Ok well I scored some seeds from a kid at school and I have been smoking weed for a while now but now its time to impress my friends with my own crop. I have some newb questions. I already germinated the seeds and have four planted in some organic soil with organic "matter" and lots of other things. I have seen weed grow with little or no attention before so I'm optimistic. I already have two little leaves coming up on two of them and the rest are on there way. I built a little rectangle box out of particle board in my room and I got a 2ft fluorescent grow light and I'm wondering how close do the little pots have to be to the light(2 inches, 15 inches??). I currently have my timer set to 18 hours of the tube light. And a filter is in the box(a little home one) and I pretty much sealed the whole rectangle box with towels (nicely of coarse and kinda on a slope). I plan on transferring these plants out side once it gets warm in a few weeks. Will this work? 18 hours of light inside and only about 12 out side? At first I was going to set the timer to 12 hours but my friend told my 18 because 12 is the budding time limit. But the natural day only has 12 hours of sunlight in it. So you see how I'm confused and I cant wait to start growing and they look great and there coming up FAST so I need those answers. I know my setup may sound stupid with only one two foot grow light but like I said I'm optimistic about it.:)

Sorry for the long post.

Plants should be as close to the light as possible, without burning them. I've used 2foot fluos before, and 1-2 inches seems optimal. They have enough lumens to grow your plants for a while, but if they start stretching (growing tall/lanky) for the light you know it's time to buy more (or toss em outside).

My understanding is: MJ will grow with whatever light it has (8 hrs of sunlight, or 24 hrs of sunlight). Only when it becomes mature enough to bud, will a shorter light schedule induce flowering. So say you grew it under 12 hrs of light, for it's entire life.. it should start to flower as soon as it is capable.

You intend to plant them outside (what a waste of particle board!), so getting them used to that environment ahead of time is a good idea. As you said, there isn't 18 hrs of sunlight outside.. so I'd recommend scheduling as much light as they would get if they were outside. This will slow their growth, so maybe only do it a few days/weeks before you want to put them outside (2nd opinions on this?).
I've read of growers who gradually get them used to the outside by putting them outside for a couple hours. Then the next day, a bit longer. They do this gradually, because if you do it all at once, you may stress the plant. Stress will dramatically slow growth or possibly kill it.
Do you know where you're planting them outside? Might be a good idea to dig a ditch, and lay down some nice soil for them.
Hope your buddies are impressed :)

Ok first thing if you you wanna impress anybody Find another forum and good luck with cops ( we dont need any problems here )

18 hours of light is needed for veg stage 12 is for flower .
keep them as long in 18 hours of light as you can when you switch them in to 12 they will grow 2 or 3 times bigger . so it all depend of you

Ok thanks for the suggestions! I'm going to try and do the method of gradually getting them used to the outside by taking them out a few hours a day. I was right on the light height for I had them really close to it and all of them have little leaves on them. When I put them out side I going to dig a big square and fill it with soil then plant them there. I'm worried about bugs and such.

18 hoursminimum of light is needed for veg stage 12 is for flower ....24/0 is fine, too. In My experience, 24/0 has produced tighter nodes and faster growth.

..."Your" age certainly does matter..
This is an adult website. You must be at least 18 years old for membership
...guesse he didn't read our "Accaptable Use Policy"...

bloodboy came clean in pm. Admitted he was under our age requirement.
I do commend him for his honesty, an attribute I can respect.
We'll welcome him back when he makes the 18 yrs.
