Thread smells like pew pew and needs to go pew pew....lol

My 600 w. digital runs me about $25.00 usd a month on 18hrs and $20.00 on 12's

so is "da" realy "the" or "duh"...lol

IMO, there is not a great increase in power consumption usind hid digital ballast's but you do need to consider the amps!!! That ballast is around 5.5 amps and if your on a 15 amp breaker, that one ballast will take up 1/3 of your amps!! actualy on a 15 amp breaker, you should not draw nore than 12 amps so that one ballast is costing you almost 50% of your breakers available load!! Use two of them, a fan, intake and exaust inline's and your over your 12 to 15 amps!! be carefull and aware!! Now thats the shiznik dawgee..

Ballast #1: 1000w. M.H.

(Big white one) draws 9.0 amps and uses an average of $60.00usd a month to operate. Bolth the ballast an bulb give off heat! The temperatures are way hotter in the grow area, even with the ballast not in there. IMO, its overkill for a closet grower w/ less than 8 plants.

Ballast #2: 600w. digital H.I.D.

This ballast is universal and uses bolth metal halide and sodium bulbs, giving you maximum spectrum controle. The ballast produces litteraly NO HEAT and the bulb produces only 70% of the heat produced by a 1000w. mh bulb. this is a good ballast for bolth vegging and flower! It will spark up a heat issue, but not a heat delima as found in the 1000w. m.h. The ballast uses 5.5 amps and runs about $25.00usd to operate.

The differances in production are not all that different when using dirt and your grow is only a small space. There is way less fire danger w/ the 600w. digital and the ballast's cost about the same (within $50 to $70) The only real differance to be argued is the lumin ratio. Thats someone elses post...lol my fingers are tired and I need a bong hit!! I hope this helps. BTW, if your in doubt of the 600w. ballast's capabilities, check out my thread "day 16 flower strawberry cough" that is 100% digital hid grow. one last word of wisdom, There is a rumor that you can use a 400w. mh in a 600w. hid ballast. I DONT KNOW and I'm NOT going to try. Get a 600 for vegg and flower. One ballast, one purchase, two bulbs!! The end.

Can you include you Kw/Hr cost.

Saying how much your bill is doesn't mean much without that.

I don't mean to be a grammar Nazi because I certainly make many mistakes myself. But to me it's like pulling teeth trying to read through a post written like that.

Ok let me put it this way... I noticed about a 40% increase w/ the digital and a 90% increase in my power bill with the 1000w beast. I never use bolth.

Can you tell me the brand and model of this 600 watt switchable. I feel like a fool here. Since I have looked for a long F'ing time for a switchable 600 watt ballast that doesn't run a conversion bulb but a regular MH as you indicate.

After reading your post I did 30 minutes of search and still can not find a true switchable 600 watt ballast, either coil and magnet or digital or electronic.

Perhaps you live overseas and it's different their, but I still find no reference.

Every time I think I found one it is just the wording throwing trying to trick me All or most say "Can run both HPS and MH"...but they all do if their conversion bulbs and I think this one is exactly that.

I dont understand?? What do you mean thats the point??

Oh sorry NLS...there are post pointing to other wattages then 600 watt....and I am aware that others are avaailable in switchable ballasts.

My question is your statement of a switchable 600 watt which they do not make but many sellers call their combination package with a 600w conversion HPS to MH bulb a switchable system. Yes all HID are switchable if you use a conversion bulb. But the 600 w HID is only made in HPS and there is no such thing as a switchable 600 w HID system. As I am sure you are aware a true switchable uses standard bulbs. In other words when I want to make my 400w HPS HID switchable system a MH HID I just throw a switch on the ballast and then use a standard MH bulb and not a conversion.

So my point was yes I know all are available in switchable, except 6oow and that is why I am asking you the brand and a description by the manufacture that shows it as truly a switchable ballast. None other then 600 w am I interested in.

Jeez I doubt that's very clear sorry for the book.
