Clone Mother?

I assume there must be a benefit to dedicating one mother to clone? Why not just keep keep cloning the descendants of that plant?

Some do it and claim no effects... some say after 30-40 generations you get some weird plants that might smoke you.

degeneration of clones takes "several" generations, if it exists at all.
"Inbreeding" is a totally different monster.

I was watching a greenhouse seeds video and they had a clone mother that was 16 yrs old!

every time i cut a plant i put the cuttings in water all the time and reroot them over and over again every one has a different way good luck man peace

I had gotten clones from a 14 year old garlic bud mom. No loss as far as I could tell. Cloned that for 4-5 more years with no loss of potency.

Yeah you can clone a clone, aparently 13 times, after that it loses most potency for some reason.

We cloned our plants when they were in veg, We decided its a great idea to clone every plant when you get the chance, as when you flower, if its female you keep it and great.. but if its a male you destroy it. no loss!

Hey Riz - where did you get that info? Seems a little off to me. I cloned that Garlic Bud every 2 months for 4-5 years, so figure 24-30 times, with no loss of potnecy, flavor or vigor.

I just have never heard that before. I have heard all the arguements both ways in numerous debates on the net. But I have never seen that in my experience. Wonder if Stoney has any info on it. Stoney???

The thing about cloning, is that you're not making a copy of a copy. You are making an exact genetic replica of the parent. Even 30 clone cycles later, it's still an exact replica. So I would think any loss of genetic potential is due more to environmental causes or it is a genetic disposition of the strain.

Now, something else to think about - Ganja is an annual plant not perenial. So this would tie in genetic disposition, i.e. the plants genetic potential could theoretically deteriorate over time due to the fact the plants are used to growing and dying all within a year. Now that is whole other thread worth of discussion...:D

Yeah you have a good point, thinking about it there are two types of reproduction. Theres the reproduction of energy in which you will lose a tiny part every time, and theres the reproduction of something organic, in which you wont loose, rather create one from another, i was still thinking for some reason that you would be losing potency the same kind of way as friction. lol, makes sence useless

its all in other peoples minds. i think if you clone the same plant several times, and then smoke it, with time of smoking the same stuff you will build a very high tolerance for it making it seem it looses potentcy. or maybe not, just a thought I wanted to share.
