Ok everyone, get ready!!!
I have been working the last few days to add a gallery to the forum and it is ready for a beta test. If you guys could take some time to test it out and let me know what you think then that would help me much.
Here's the link:
http://www.marijuanapassion.com/Gallery/index.php
The gallery is integrated with the forum and current members don't have to register again for uploading images.
Have fun :-)
everytime I try to upload I get a page not found message

When does that happen, when you are uploading pictures or if you click the upload link?

I find the files must be 800x? or smaller...and so far, one at a time has worked fine.
Thanks Marp. :)
Can't wait to see your pics NDS.:smoke1:

MP gotta quick question. Are we gonna have to use this link when we wanna post pics or are you gonna put something up on the main page? By the way everything is working great and thanks for adding the gallery mang.

I get to browse for my file and select it, but when i hit submit/upload it starts processing then goes to cannot find server.
File size is 1200 pixels x (smaller) and around 150mb
I did get 1 to upload that is 800pixels x (smaller) and around 100mb

Assume you're talking about kilobytes, not megabytes NDS.
Same thing happening for me. Smaller pictures fine, larger ones a no-no.
Might be an idea to limit the size - Peace

yup, sorry KB not MB
I have no problem resizing, just thought that was going to be a function of the gallery. If its not, no biggy.
just need to set the gallery limits to 150 kb on jpeg and 1200x1200 pixels, lol

Ok, i think 800kb per picture would be big enough right? The bigger the pictures the more space it takes on the server and the sooner I have to upgrade to a new server. This server has 100gigs of space on it. We already have a few gigs on it.
I can adjust the width of the images for upload that's not a problem because it makes two different image sizes and keeps also the original.
I just set it to 2000/2000 and let see how that goes.

800 kb per picture is massive. That would be too big, in my opinion.
300 kb pictures would be very good quality.
2000 pixels x 2000 pixels is also a bit much.
I'd reccommend 1024 x 768
What type of bandwidth do you have per month ?
I've set up quite a few forums, just speaking from personal experience ... peace

TBG I will add the gallery to the top menu soon. :-)

I see that when you upload images bigger then 800 in width it gives an error, it's strange because it was set already at 2500/2500. So, it should be working, maybe it has something to do with the image processing script.
Runbyhemp. The image size is not a problem, the photopost script makes a thumb and if a image is bigger then 600 in width or hight it resizes the image to 600 width or hight plus it keeps the original image. It would mean more server load when processing the image,so that maybe is the problem with big sized pictures and the error we have. I will look into this laterz.
I have 100 gig bandwidth and we're already at about 70 gig a month, and now with this gallery that would be probably getting more.
I pay 117 Euros (about $150) for the dedicated server monthly. If we cross the bandwidth I have to pay more.
Well we'll see how it goes ...

I understand what you're saying about the postscript Marpassion.
I was only talking about picture size in respect to bandwidth. A few users uploading large files and others viewing 800kb files will chew up bandwidth and also slow things to a grind. ;)
Looks like you're on top of things though ... Peace

or 1200x1200 as max size. Im all for this gallery, but not at the expense of hurting site operation.
Thanks for the quick replies and action MarP

Great job on the Gallery MarP! It'll be interesting to see how much usage it gets.
You've set it up very nice!

The gallery shows only the thumbnails and max image size of 600 width, so the file size in kb is also lower then. however the user has the option to view the biggest original file size, but that's only an option for the viewer.
It's ok guys, it's fun and nice to view beautiful pictures.
The max width and hight are set to 2500/2500 but it could give you an error. I will look into this.

Thanks SB, I havnt resized in paint in a while. Got Fireworks MX off of limewire and have used it since. one of the things I like about lime wire is I can set my export size in kb. So I change the pixels to 800 then set the size around 100-150kb, export and Im done. Other programs I had to adjust the file size by fidgitting with the pixel size. flat ruined some of the pictures.

use it to find Fireworks MX. Takes a bit to get used to so heres some fireworks tips
1- Sharpen the photo first if you plan to. it doesnt sharpen as well after an auto color and wont sharpen at all after a cropping
2- auto color adjust works ok at best, I rarely use it (unless i've alot of blue light in the picture) and just try for better lighting with my pictures
3 - When you make a crop box, double click on the inside of that box to accept it. remember you can still adjust the crop size before double clicking.
4- To the right, there is a bar with tabs. click the optimize tab, then click the bullets to the right in that tab. This drops down the optimize menu, after cropping the picture and resizing it, use the optimize to size option to set kb size
5- when your done editing, go to File and select Export. This will save the file as a Jpeg. If you just hit save, it saves it as PNG. This extension may work now, but origionally .png was not supported.
Just a few things to help ya out. The program has so much more to it that I'll never use but I love resizing thru it.
