My First grow

Hey guys, this is my first grow that I have ever attempted. I am taking it step by step. I am using a 42 w fluro that gives off 2700 lumens. I am working in a 1 foot by 1 foot box. The box i found in my backyard, it is made of all mirror/mylar material. Im using some sort of growing soil that i found in the shed as well. I think its miracle grow something. I have the light on 24/7 for the time being.

Step 1- I found seeds in my buddies car and thought why not give it a try. The first step is to TRY! haha

Step 2- I germinated the seeds between paper towel and on a plate and under a bowl.

Step 3- The seeds germinated between 1 day and 3 days. I planted 3 seeds in individual small containers and 4 in a larger poker tin. (These are all temporary spots untill i know for sure their growing)

Step 4- I planted the 3 individual seeds Saturday 2nd around midday and they have all now come out of the surface. The 4 that i planted yesterday are still underneath the soil

I am going to keep this going for anybody who is new like me and may avoid making a mistake that i might make lol...does that make sense?

Questions- The little thing sticking out seems to be cracked open? is that normal

to start with that much space will only hold 1 plant once they get bigger
second it looks like you are using mirrors for the walls, if thats the case youre better off with mylar, Mirrors actually soak up light instead of reflecting it.
once the seed cracks it will have 1 small little finger sticking out of it, that is the end that youy will be burying in the ground, depending on how deep and how much moisture will determine the length of time before it pops out of the ground. 2-10 days is normal. hope this helps..

Yah i am only getting them started and this is just a test run. I don't know if its mirror or mylar cuz its not like breakable, its more along the lines of plastic

in that case youre not doing too bad at all then, the panels must be mirrored plexi, it still soaks up the light more since it is a mirror surface, for what u are using it, it doesnt really matter. how is the ventilation throught the box and temps with the light on?

Yes, i believe youre talking about the shell, in a couple of days you can carefully remove it from the head or just let it fall on its own..

you remind me of me vey much a couple of months ago. i even created a box similar like yours for seedlings start up.. Now iam hooked, whenever im with the plants i loose track of time and catch myself having conversations with my plants.. sounds crazy, but if you stick with it you will know what im talking about..:clap: :clap: :clap: :clap: :clap:

Just updating my first grow

I took one of the sides off for accesibility reasons and i added a second cfl. I also added a little fan to circulate air and a moisture meter to make sure no more of my babies died. I started with 10 seeds, 8 germinated....then 8 baby plants grew out of the dirt, but now only 6 remain....I feel like i failed but I'm going to keep on trying my best!

The side that i keep open i cover over with a white hockey jersey as to allow the fan to circulate through it but also cover the light from bothering me while i sleep

When about is it safe to start giving the plants that miracle grow liquid nutrient stuff u get at canadian tire?

Im almost at a week of growing with 24/7 lights and my biggest plant is 4 leaves and about 1 inch tall so im afraid it wasnt getting enough lumens so i bought a second bulb..what else can i do to boost the growth
