Ok so now i know that i can't use the lights i have so iam goin to order from ebay.
If you guys could specifically tell me wat i need i wont a 150 or 250 watt hps light. Also what is better hps,hid,mh etc. And does every ballast fit every wattage.

HID-high intensity discharge lights. MH and HPS are HID lights. MH-Metal Halide provides the blue spectrum, good for veg. HPS-High Pressure Sodium provides the red spectrum, good for flowering. What watt to get depends on room size. With hid you want 50w per square ft. Hope this helps. NO...every ballast doesn't fit every wattage.

I personally found a lot of "scams" on ebay. Some like TBG are great at finding deals, but me....I went with insidesun [dot] com.
they have right now a 250W HPS with reflector and bulb for 95 bucks plus S+H. I had that system and was very happy. It was at my door DHL service in under 5 days.
While I was there I bought an extra bulb, some Gen. Hydro Maxi-bloom and some other things.
Some of the other guys will steer you to some great deals.

If you want cheap low watt HID lights try e-conolight [dot] com. you can get 150W HPS w/ bulb for 40 bucks + s/h and an extra bulb is only 6 bucks. ;)
You may have to gut it and make the ballast remote, which there are tons of how to's online. I have a few links if you go this route.

I used my credit card...or you can get a pre-paid card thru western union. Money order takes longer. He is a cool guy talked to him myself.
Excellent system...I was very happy. I spent 150 in one order...ya start shoppin and thats all she wrote. lol. With credit card I don't worry about it. It's a light....not seeds or something.

Here is when it was in some action...this was last year. 1 plant took the whole 250...lil too much LST and veg time. but I was very very happy with my 125 purchase (that was the total on just the light. I bought my chains at wal-mart for 1/4 the price insidesun had them. ;) They dropped it off no signing for it.

I dont think thats i good deal, down my street at the LIGHTING STORE a hps 150 watt bulbs costs 30$ i recently called i asked and thats wat they said. dun know how many lumens.

His ballast looks more expensive. If I could do it over i'd go with HTG Supply.

When you enter the webesite on your left their is a contral panal you'll find LIGHT BULBS click on that it will take you too a page with a couple of light bulbs on the bottom there will be a certain light marked as high intensity......etc. click on it and run the file takes 2 sec once it opens up you got diffrent light. hope this helps.

Wow man, it is much better than ANY lighting store I been to. Lowes and HD is $100 for the same flood. The local electrical supply stores is over $60.
Unless your talking of just the bulb.
Then E-conolight has the 150W HPS ballast and bulb for $40.00 (you just need to wire a plug onto it....or gut it and make it a remote ballast)
Their HPS bulbs are only 6 bucks.

Halogen or quartz is......
these are Metal Halide and High Pressure sodium floods. They will grow MJ just fine. ;)

The only issue with a flood is it has an "enclosed" ballast this makes them run hotter than one with the ballast seperate. Which I would gut it and make the ballast seperate. ;)
Check back in a few I'll dig up a link or two on how to make them a remote ballast.

But to answer your other question...
for those prices...I would work out a nice grow box....just let us know what you want to do and what your budget is.

If your a do-it yourselfer like me....(I know electricity very well....residential, commercial, industrial. I have wired 220V to 3-phase converter to 480V transformer to heavy milling equipment). Europeans like to make equipment hard to work with. :p. I would go this route and save a bunch of $$$$.

but keep in mind those ballasts can light you up man.

I wired a 70W MH and an HPS for my freind because he didn't have much cash. He loves it and is still running it after 1 1/2 yrs. both from e-cono. He grows from seed and just swaps em out when he switches to flower. I integrated them with the lid of his box. the ballast is covered and outside the box and the bulb is attached to the lid. simple..pop it off and put the HPS on.

Total cost to get 3 ounces every 3 months...100 bucks total for lighting and 0 bucks for his grow box and fans. (freind of mine is a computer junky....always has spare fans around).

I love setting up tiny hobby grows.

I dont really know what a remote ballast is but i thinks its seprate ballast lol.
And is it easy to seperate the ballast from the flood light.
I already have i good grow box built ill post a pic later tonight cause dont got the cam with me know. Also i want 2 sets of lights,ballast,reflector...etc.........for veg and flower.:)

You can find whats called "electrical supply" companies in the phone book. whats better is you can pay cash. ;)
Shop around your town. You may have a mark-up on them, but cheap route...O'wise your going to be stuck with a hydro shop which they will have a mark-up too.
