I ordered my organic grow kit..
after days of flip flopping to go hydro or organic and busting
a few brain blood vessels and advice from you all.
I decided to go organic.
I ordered a digital 600w mh/hps light system with reflector
and the dirty dozen organic grow kit from HTG supplies.
any advice on how to start out would be great.
and a few donated clones would be good to.. :D
I have one mj plant already about 5" big.
when my kit get here.. how should I transplant it??
Its currently in regular potting soil.
Should I trans plant the whole plant and soil into a hole
dug into the fox farm organix soil?? Or take off as soil as i can
thats it is in not, then transplant into the new soiil??
thanks folks..

congrats on your new set up as for transplanting it i would get as much soil off without breaking or damaging the roots than spray the roots with watter that should get the rest of the dirt off them. than put them in your new soil good luck bro peace. oh also make sure u put it in at least a 5gallon pot so u dont have to transplant it again.

Well i'd use a 10 gallon, it is great. I grew a few of my plants last year with a 10 gallon pot. It grew excellent and didn't get root bound.
and eh on the trasnplanting, i wouldn't take all the dirt off the soil. I'd get the plant out and take off some dirt around the roots but still leave the roots covered a tiny bit and make your hole, put it in and water it. Within a few days the roots will be grown out to the new soil and it'd be a lot less stress on the plant. Anyways do it either way and it should be fine. Take care bro and good luck!

Well i know it wont cause a problem, i've done it myself. I just found that leaving a bit of soil on it does cause less stress for the plant. either way will work really. It's just a matter of personal oppinion :P

Funny that you mention, Pot size.
The grow kit comes with 3 gallon potting bags..
So 3 gallons potting bags not large enough?
I dont plan on growing huge plants, for now.
You guys that grow inside, your pots dont hold any water, correct??
So all the pots have drain holes for water to drain completely out??
IF so, what do you place your pots in?? to keep you floors dry?
thanks

3 gals is fine. its enough room to support a decent size plant. i know really good growers dont have holes on the bottom of his/hers pot but as a newbie i would strongly suggest gettin pot with holes. most of the time they sell little bottoms for the pots that catch all the water. if your going to use bag, i guess u could use those little baking trays used for making ziti and such....good luck

I use the 3 gal bags also. My Blue Mystic and Hashberry are in those exact bags. 5 gal would be better for bigger plants but, unless you're growing a single, monstrous plant, 10 gal would take up more space than it's worth imo. As far as transplanting, I just take out the root ball and put it in a hole in the new soil. Always worked fine for me.
