is a medium really necessary?

Or could you just suspend the plant over aerated water? I just started using the buble cloner found in the DIY section (thanks Massproducer!) and wondering if I could just take my clones straight from the cloner and put in a two liter bottle using the 1/2" hose (I'm using 1/2" PVC pipe) to suspend the plant?

Remember those tubes wont be holding the plant as firm as grow medium would.I don't see why it's not possible (it's still alive in the tube so it can survive *IM guessing*) but I think you'll run into problems in the long run.Where is it going to get support?

well, I grow in a SOG, so they never get too big. I hope that the tube itself will support the plant enough in the same way it does in the cloner. Well, only one way to find out! I'll just do a test run with my next batch of clones.
