My grow room is coming along, but I'm concerned about the nutrient schedule. My grow medium will have no nutrients (peat moss, perlite, and vermiculite). I'm going to use 8-26-15 for veg and 15-30-15 for flower. If I decide to clone, I'll use a rooting hormone. I germinate using paper towels.

Here's my question: if there are no nutrients in my medium, how should I feed a germinated seed that's been planted by hasn't sprouted yet. is 8-26-15 too strong for a seedling? Should I stick with water only? I figure that "water only" would deprive it of nutrients it needs to develop from a baby into an adolescent. On the other hand, I don't want to kill it with nutrients. Is there a nute specifically designed for the 1-2 weeks between germination and seedling?

Any help is appreciated.

Actually, NUTES from a seedling will kill your plant, water is the only thing a seedling needs to grow for the first couple of weeks, once you have some nice leaves forming, then you can try giving it nutes ONLY1/4 dosage for the first time and work your way up to normal dosage.. good Luck

So a germinated seed will sprout without ANY nutrients?

Odd, because the plant I'm growing now (see "My first grow! Photo of my plant..." in the Outdoor grow section) was planted in potting soil with nutrients already added. It turned out fine. Perhaps I should use the same stuff instead of my peat/perlite/vermic mixture?

correct, a germinating seed needs no ferts , most of the time they will sprout just fine in soil with time released ferts , but , after a couple of days or so they will show problems because of the fertalizers , like nitrogen burn , or yellowing , and limping , it is best to germinate like fire power said in plain water , this will , eliminate a lot of problems from the start....:D :hitchair: lol lol

Also 8-26-15 does not sound like a vegg nute, you need higher N, sounds more like a flowering nute.

What brand and product are you planning to use?

Sorry...I meant 26-8-15
