View Full Version : Helicoptor Behavior

Earlier this morning a helicoptor flew overhead not once, but twice in about a 40 minute span. It wasn't flying low or slow in my opinion. But it's still enough to get this outdoor grower paranoid!!!

I've been obscessing about that damn helicoptor. But since several hours have passed I am trying to relax a bit.

Now if he was looking in my backyard wouldn't he have flown lower and passed over slower? And wouldn't he have passed over several times while doing it instead of waiting nearly an hour to do it again???

I must say that I live close to a major freeway and it's not unusual for a traffic helicoptor to fly near me.

I keep looking in my backyard and I don't think my plants are super obvious. They are very close to the crape mertyl bushes and other vegitation.

Would a helicoptor really waste their time on a small personal grow of only 2 plants???

Any opinions on this?

Thanks. :o

wow mom, there was a helicoptor flying over here as well infact i was watering the girls and i herd it comming from like atleast a mile away and i jumped indoors real quick and sure enough here they come right over my house, they passed over quite a few times but they were making circles a few blocks away so i assume they were just looking for someone or somethig.
this is the time of year when all outdoor growers qet quite paranoid atleast i know i am:hairpull: just hang in there mom i think you will be fine..

Thanks jash.

Lots of noise in my backyard from a nearby road, plus lots of air traffic because I am about 20 miles away from a busy airport.

Paranoia is gonna destroy me...or my plants. :O

You should be fine momma... They aren't that obvious by the looks of the pics. Especially at a few hundred feet.

On a side note, every year in my surrounding area, they confiscate over 100,000 plants.

Lots of big outdoor busts have been happening here too. Of course only the big ones make the news. I would like to know how many small ones have been found.

I may have to pluck an immature bud off Ethel so I can atleast try her before something bad happens.

Damn...I have been so easy-going and unparaniod about my grow until now. I hate this!!!

i was looking at a neighbs garden foul of veg wich is 100ft from me and i was sure to noticed a MJ tree till my bro came and told me that was an almond tree,so its a bit difficult to say from distance especially if surrounded bu other veg...

Ok in my opinion if a helicoptor spots your grow, it will most likely stop and hover.

Although it might give you the heeby jeebys i very much doubt anyone monitoring any peice of surveylance equipment onboard looked at your yard long enough to say "ooh what a pretty pink myrtle" if at all lol

as far as im aware, they cant just fly around looking for plants. Especially on private property, i get the feeling most helicoptor busts happen due to someone being in a nearby place at the wrong time thus attracting the chopper.

While i was growing our last crop the chopper came over roughly every couple of days. Not straight over but enough to make me wonder, but nothing happened and i still see the damn thing sometimes flying over and hovering on the horizon. No letters no police nothing in months so im kinda settled on the whole paranoia factor. However if one started hovering above my house then yes. Its time to worry.

Im sure youll be fine. My two cents :)

im sure you will be fine mom i was the same way when they flew over my grow for the first time, and if worst comes to worst and someone does happen to show up knocking at the door just remember ''no one is home'' but you will be fine,i have faith in you:D

Let me tell you, Do not think for a minute that they won't bust a "small" grow. Think about it like this. Most outdoor grows are not on the property of the grower, or in woods, farmfields etc, If they get a chance at making an arrest no matter how small they will. I am not just pulling this out of my behind either. Back in 2002 someone in a private plane had spotted our grow on a Friday. Satrday my plants were ripped. So my buddy ,and I harvested all of his Sunday morning when it was discovered. Monday we are in trimming when we hear the familiar beats of chopper rotor. Sure enough they flew right over our properties, and circled multiple times. Next thing you know they are hpvering over the neighborhood bak to the north of us about a 1/4 mile away. Well I know a bunch of people in that neighborhood, and what ended up happening is one guy had one plant on his deck. They spotted it,and swooped in with the ground units. He got arrested, yadda, yadda. Meanwhile we were pretty spooked as well.

Dateline this year. They flew wide circles at relatively high altitude (500 to 1000ft plus) They have one guy hanging out the side with Binoculars looking. They ended up getting the vast majority of mine out of the cornfields, and I saw two of the neighbors cutting grass fields with their lawn mowers LOL.

In closing SmokinMom they may or may not have spotted yours, but if I were you I would at very least camoflauge them temporarily. Also they are free to spy from the sky, the law has protected them on that one, which is **! If they spot a crime from a helicopter (plants) they are free to move in to investigate. I think they have to get a search warrant though to go in any buildings, but how hard will that be when they already have the plants.

DO NOT PLANT ON YOUR OWN PROPERTY!

I cannot really relate to this as I grow inside. I do know that being paraniod keeps you on your feet and all of your senses aroused. This is a good thing. I would watch them and the air closely and at the first thought that you have been caught trim, grind and bury. But of course keep what you can;)

I have heard, and this is a roumor so I do not know for a fact.
That they don't just weight your plant above ground but they weigh the roots when prosecuting people.....The roots can equal in weight of the plant as it is the same form just under the earth.

Things will be alright though I think. I will throw you some of my irish luck:D

i think all those color'd pipe cleaners may be a dead give away.

Maybe get some camoflage cleaners.

Mom...while your at it, get some camo netting. If you get enough to cover your entire house and yard, they will most likely think its just an empty lot . If they come in for a closer look :watchplant: you could always zap the pilot blind with those red lazer spotter's.

Hopefully he doesn't try to land in the "empty" lot.

am i high again? dammit!

That's true. Atleast in the state I'm in. They will charge with cultivation either above or below a certain number of plants. Then they will charge you with possession of so much. They dont clean up and weigh bud, they weigh the whole plant. Thats how they get those ridiculous numbers and prices. Like if you have 10 plants and each one weighs 2 lbs. Then they will say you had 20 lbs of reefer. Sneaky b@$+@rd$.

That is a good pic do not get me wrong but we are talking about a couple of plants here.

I have heard of infared and the green spectrum of weed and all sorts of other things but I can not speak on it as I really don't know.

Good pic though. I will be more hesitant to grow outside now:cool:

The thermal imaging ** is just that. I have looked at my plants in broad daylight with mine, and they really don't stick out. Maybe a very large plot may look slightly different, but not a small one. Here is a pic I took last grow of my girls with the Flir camera.http://www.420genetics.com/gallery/files/4/9/hotspot.jpg

do agree, they don't see much in the daytime whatsoever. especially if you're growing indoors. but in your case, if they wanted to get evidence, or try and incriminate you, they would have slowed it down to take pictures for evidence. paranoia is a sad thing to have for a plant that grows as naturally as anyother. Just try to relax and know that you're going to have that crop in soon, and the paranoia will go away as it does everytime.
I've seen pounds go out the door over plain paranoia. it usually takes them months just to set up enough evidence if they wanted to do something, and arial pictures don't seem to be such a good peice of evidence, since there's different weeds that looks just like it from distances.
I try and not stress although I can't help it a lot.
but the more paranoid you get, the more problems you'll make for yourself.

good luck to you and your crop.

Amen! Yesterday was a terrible day. I kept hearing things all day long. I'd step out into the backyard and all would be quiet. It was all in my head!!!!

Today is a new day. You guys have made me feel a little better and I am not hearing things. :p Thanks!

Hey SM,

i especially like this part: (pg2)

"Today's testimony made clear that there is effectively no legal framework governing the domestic use of satellite imagery for the various purposes envisioned by the department. … The use of geospatial information from military intelligence satellites may turn out to be a valuable tool in protecting the homeland."

Wow....................Outdoor growers BEWARE!!!!!!
