What ya need to do is get one of those hand held microscopes at Radio Shack for like $10. Then cut a small piece of leaf off one of the buds put it under the scope and check the trichromes. ;) Here is a link to a harvest thread. http://www.marijuanapassion.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1938
