currently i have a set up consisting of 2x2x4 space with 1 400w floro 4x 100w halogen 4"fan and lined with dull side foil. 2 plants 8" and germanated seeds( 10) 2" from light source.????????????? also using miraclegrow. will this get me by??????

Halogen wrong light...
you florous, Metal Halide, or High pressure sodium is what works.
with florous 3,000 lumens minimum per sq.ft.
50W of HID (MH, HPS) per sq.ft.
400W of flos in 4sqft? can you please describe the flos more clearly? I'm confused on that one.
Aluminum foil is not the best reflective material...flat white paint, mylar, or white poly is the ticket ;)

2 ft floresent grow light given to me, grow box 2foot x 2 foot x 4 feet tall big sturdy cardboard box cut a door guessing on power of light. just playing with this untill i can invest in good hardware, getting a feel for it.ill post pics 2nite and get feedback.

Yo chef...is that the "incadescent equivilant" value or actual wattage put out?
Incadescent equivilent is totally useless when it comes to growing MJ. ACTUAL used wattage is what is important.

Ah I know what your freind got.....
They "claim" it equiv. to a 400W HPS or MH but it uses "florex" technology.
It's a rip off. Fact of the matter is its an over glorified florou at certain Kelvin temps. You cen veg fine under em. Might flower a little bud too.
You can get the same kinda flos at most lighting shops. even wal-mart..they just slap some fancy names and crap and part peeps from there money.
From the 400W equiv sounds like about 50W of actual watts. in 4 sq.ft. you will want more of em. I use 150W+ watts of flos in 2 sq.ft. if that gives you an idea what you need.

yep, but the more lights you add the more heat will rise even with flos, so ventialtion is a must. ;)

ive got a 4" fan inside the box 4 circulation ,sould i mount another to pull heat and air out?

exhaust should have a fan. it will help pull the heat out. Intake is important as well. You can do a passive intake (just a hole no fan)...but air circulation is very crucial to growing any plant.

What I can tell you right now is that it sounds like you have alot of lights in that box, now cardboard is flammable... so... I'd recommend you find another type of grow room or box. Sorry if you already posted this but, do you live with anyone else?

none if it's cardboard.... I have used an old fridge before, worked great and was easy to set up.... even used it to help cool it some as it was in the garage :rolleyes:
