just as the title says i was wandering what the coolest temps to have in the dark period where (as in would it be a good idea to keep my heating on if starting to grow about this time autumn/winter), also can anyone tell me a good place to acquire some seeds from as i hear some places rip u off ?.

This noob (me) is just starting out growing my own ive very nearly got all the equipment i need for my grow room i hope my first time wont be a complete failure, it will all be trial and error after that, the only points im worried about is germinating (and hoping to get as many fems as pos) and the temps in dark period also what sized pots to use :s, im hoping to germinate in something like yogurt pots then transfer to the bigger ones (after buying my 600 watt hps lamp, bulb, ballast, soil, that stuff that obsorbs and releases the neutrients cant remember the name now and a humidity/temp gauge im a bit tight on cash lol).

Pot (http://www.drchronic.com/.Pot) size I get 4 in pots and start them in.Then around the end of the third week I will put them right into 4 or 5 gallon pots. One transplant alot less stress on your plant. The rest of your list sounds good. But add a fan in there,at least paint the walls white in your grow room, for better reflection, also get yourself a PH tester.Well I hope this helps some what.Got any other questions.Ask away.Keep it GREEN:hubba:

cheers for youre reply and yes i do have a fan coming its kind of like a fan & ionizer in one and i have a PH tester on route it tests something else in the soil too but i cannot remember what now till it comes :s , the walls are white and i will probly do a quick test when all the equipment is here for 2 days to see what temps/humidity i get etc b4 i get the seeds and then take it from there.

The size of my grow room is 4x3 and fairly tall (12 foot i think) im hoping to fit in about 3-4 plants (im not sure what yield i will get from that amount), ill start to germinate 5 then see how many females i get further down the road.

I see that deal for the jock horror seeds and im tempted to purchase a pack because of the price they say they are moderate difficulty to grow so for my first time around would it be worth it ? (im really looking forward to giving this a shot lol)

(im really looking forward to giving this a shot lol)That is a good idea on setting everything up and doing a test run.I see no problem fitting 3-4 plants in a space that big.You will get a pretty good harvest from 3-4 plants. The deal for Jock Horror seeds are a good price, but click on the site and they have dozens of strains that are very easy to grow for the first timer.Well good luck on your grow and your set up.Keep us posted and looking forward to seeing some pics soon of some lovely plants growing for you.Keep it GREEN:hubba:

ye cheers for that im swaying more to getting some of them master kush seeds purely cos of the yield i will get and the THC level plus the buzz, with it being an indica/sativa mix what should i expect for the height less than 8 foot would be ideal ?

most indica dominant crosses if vegged/flowered properly will rarely get over 5' tall indoors....

your Fan Ionizer, won't move enough air in the grow area to be beneficial
to your plants. You need a real fan, to blow and circulate the air.
Not to just purify it.. Might want to research Ionic air filters before you
buy it. I wish I would of.. Its more marketing than actual, benefits.
Google it, you'll know what i mean.

Believe me.. once you finish your grow room, with fans, humidifier, lights,
humidifier, dehumidifer and etc etc. Youll be happy to see you temps
get under 70degrees. Especially after you make it light tight.

Goodluck

unfortunatley i think ive made the same mistake as you mrpuffalot (lol love the name) i didnt look into the filter part i guess ill have to wait till it arrives now :( I will be purchasing one of them oscilator fans probly a 12" then see what temps i get ill be doing a test run when everythings here so ill know more on what to do to get the recquired temps/humidty.

On a side note does anyone know where in the uk i can purchase seeds the only reason i ask this is that i want to limit the risk factor even tho its not illegal to purchase seeds here i just dont want to flag myself with customs if you get my drift (i'll have to look into the law side of it because i know for a fact its illegal to sell or buy which is why i want to grow my own but im not entirely sure what the law says about growing for youreself its fairly unclear).

all females nice (i bet thats not even feminized seeds), jsut to add to my topic in case anyone was wandering i found these 2 articles a lot of experienced growers will already know this but ill post it anyway for anyone to reference too -:

http://www.mellowgold.com/grow/begin/
on that article it states the temps in dark period can drop by 15 deg maximum (under temperature humidty section) but going by the next article that isnt the best idea unless u can keep youre roots warm as this article states -:

Oxygen is the most important root requirement because the roots need oxygen to convert sugar to energy. The more oxygen available to the roots, the more energy they can transfer to the plant.
Temperature also affects root growth and function. The roots do a
great deal of their storage developing at night when the green sections of the plant are not being pressured by the light to produce and distribute the day's excess sugar to the roots. Roots function more efficiently when they are warm, so roots in warm dark period develop better structures than those grown in cool dark period. As an illustration, a cycle of warm dark 77°F (25°C) and day 59°F (15°C) would develop better roots than a cycle of cool dark 59°F (15°C) and day 77°F (25°C). In essence, plants will grow better with a high average 24-hour root temperature that is constant rather than fluctuating.

am i allowed to post articles from another forum ? i couldnt find anything on this site regarding this and i found them 2 articles from a few days searching around lol.

Your root temp is the most important. Cooler temps around the foilage during the dark period helps to bring out the purple in the purple varieties. I keep an aquarium heater in my res to keep the roots at a good temp.
I have an f13 plant outside where it gets cooler temps at night and it is deep purple. Her sisters, from the same mom, are green with some purple but not as deep and sexy as the one outside. To look at them side by side you would think they were different plants.
