ok, im getting kinda flustered.... fans and exhaust require ducting from the grow area to an outside source. Problem is the room in which my grow closet is in is at 81.5 degrees right now due to all the computer stuff.

Portable AC unit is looking like my only option, however, I have a problem it seems with this as well. I have no window to vent it out of, and it says it has to be vented. Why does a stand alone AC (not AIR COOLER) need to be "vented"? If the exhaust of the AC is in fact warm air, won't it naturally cool itself?

Is there a way to vent it up towards the ceiling and create a heat trap (hot air rises) to reduce this issue?

If I don't need to REALLY vent the AC unit, I will get one ASAP!! haha if it's quiet enough that is.

I don't think there is any kind of a/c unit you can use without having it vented. Lots of humid/hot air has to be removed from the room.

Using flex hose to the nearest window or going up into your attic space are a couple of ways to do it.

Setting up a grow room is a little bit of a problem and expense, but compared to paying some lowlife on the street for crap bud and lots of stems and seeds, you save a fortune.

the ROOM the closet is in is 81.5 degrees....

the grow room gets to almost 90 at times during the day WITH just the veg lights. This is NOT the flower light I have (400watt HPS). It will get well over 100 I am sure!!

I guess if it's ABSOLUTELY necessary, I could try and vent it to the attic from the A/C unit. Ugh...yeah, I don't mind the expense if it's necessary, but someone recommened squirrel cage fans, but the problem is the air outside isn't really "cool" enough to make much of a difference. So AC was the only way I could think of it. I guess it's back to ebay to look for more units!

Can you fit a regular window a/c unit into your main room window? Then you could use fans to blow into your grow area.

Window units are cheap now and have digital controls...

I have horizontally sliding windows, most window units are for vertical windows. I think I am stuck with a portable AC unit. :(

You have to have an exhaust for a/c because your are'nt actually cooler the air you are just removing the heat from the air inyour house and dumping it outside. If you don't vent you might as well not run it because you are just dumping the heat you removed right back into your house. They do make portable a/c's that is prolly what your gonna need. I left a few links below as some examples.

I see tons of AC COOLERS and these are different from AIR CONDITIONERS.
Coolers are cheaper, and use lot less power, but they do not actually have a refridgerator unit inside to remove the humidity to get cold air. A cooler blows air by fan over ice packs or cool water curtains, which would add humidity in my opinion and not cool as well. So I need a Conditioner right? The link above was for a "cooler".

If I built a false ceiling aboe the grow area leaving say 2ft above the false ceiling, could I vent the A/C unit into this false ceiling? The bottom air would obviously be cooler, and when I go in and out of the closet area it would pull that hot air out. Or even have holes in the false ceiling to slowly allow that air to come back down into circulation.

If I end up having to cut into the ceiling of the grow room leading to the attic... what size vents do I need to have going to the ceiling? I don't want to have a huge 6" hole in my ceiling!

In the end, I won't be able to scrub the air in the grow room right? Because I don't have an "inline" scrubber on the vent goign to the attic? Or would the stand alone scrubber i see on these advertisements work well with the AC unit?
