also, my power went out yesterday and they stayed in their dark phase for 36 hours. my power came back on today at 3pm. they are going to go back into dark tonight at 12am to get back on track.

no offence dude, but that dont answer the question what so ever. if i'm wrong, i'll appologize, but i dont see anything...easy to copy and paste, but this one actually takes thought.
could be calcium deficiency. your ph? too low of ph can lock your nutes...
quoted from another site: "that 'purpling' is most likely a result of temperature variances, and will do no harm ... later, in flowering, it can indicate a phosphorous deficiency"
changing temps alot is a possibility
another quote :"Purple petioles and stems are signs of Sulfur deficiency, low temps, or even simply related to the strain."
i hope this helps, laterz and all the luck.

When I look at my Nutrient def Chart........the chart indicates either N, P, K or Mg.
NITROGEN (N) Pale plants, red stems, smaller growth. Rapid yellowing of lower leaves progressing up the plant. Add any chemical fertilizer containing N. Treated plants recover in about a week.
PHOSPHORUS (P) Slow or stunted growth, red stems. Smaller leaves that are dark green. Lower leaves yellow and die. Add chemical fertilizer containing P. Affected leaves will not show recovery but new growth will apear normal.
POTASSIUM (K) Affected plants are usually tallest and appear to be most vigorous. Necrotic spots form on lower leaves. Red stems. Leaves appear pale or yellow. Add chemical fertilizer containing K.
MAGNESIUM (Mg) Lower leaves yellow and may even turn white while veins remain dark green. Blades die and curl upward.

5) a) Leaves are dark green or red/purple. Stems and petioles may have purple & red on them. Leaves may turn yellow or curl under. Leaf may drop easily. Growth may be slow and
leaves may be small. >> Phosphorous (P) deficiency.
b) If not, go to #6.

while i have to agree with most all of the guys that have been on the thread with replys about looking in the troubled plants part and attempting to diagnose the problem (mainly cause we cant be of much help with out pics) i have to say that while in flower you DO NOT want to use any MG soil nutes or MG foods they are not a even mix of nutes most times they are high in one aspect or another (the soils are usually high in N and thats not good for a flowering plant) and my suggestion is go to a hydro shop and find some 0-10-10 i had the same problem with mine and this got the P-K up to what the plant will use while it flowers and has cleared up the main stem about 60% and the fans stems almost completely
hey octobong, all ok-no hard feelings here. got mad because i did search in the link prior posting - im always checking a link before posting it. as all info about is in there imo its better first try to understand the problem w/ reading and then if still dubious asking on details, i prefer a link than an simple answer -i found that reading and understanding the problem its the best way to learn and improve knowledge. all ok man.

hahaha the reason yall are having a problem diagnosing the problems is because any disturbance in optimal growth conditions will trigger the plants defenses, you have to wait for more subtle signs lol, hell even a fan will do it to your plants :p
p.s. octo your paradox's make me laugh

well say you put ur plants into flowering, while the lights are off and you leave the high cfm fan on, a, its gonna make the r/h drop drastically, for instance mine droped to 35% last night from 45-50 steady, plus it'll make your temps drop, the combination is enough to trigger defense, purpling of the veins and leaves. :D
