Instead of cloning off a mother plant, i plan to take clones off each one of my vegging plants before putting them to flowering.

Is this a good idea? Or is it better to have a mother plant to take clones off? Why?

i would take cuttings get them rooted well. Put the seed plants in flower. and keep the best female clone as a mother.
I found "in my experience" decrease in plants health when its a 3rd or more gen. clone.
Mother plants become well established and can keep them in perpetual veg. producing clones every 1-2 weeks opposed to having to root and veg for a while before you can take clones again. Clones I found easier to manage than seed starts as well.

ya... your best bet is to take clones off mothers, as the mother is a mature parent giving the greatest chances of clone success, however, it is possible to take clones from a clone but the will inherantly b better from a mother plant - a clone of a weak clone has a low survival rate.

As well, if you only clone say... 1/4 of a mother (by taking the bottom branches as clones), you will still have an established mother to take more clones from if all your clones do not initially take.

If the mother (or 2 or 3) that you keep vegging for clones gets too big, simply top it to make another mother - this will be your best clone of the original plant. clone the hell out of what's left or just do whatever to it - I usually just flower it (this makes a nice grow)... that's gunna b grow #3

anyways... that's what I do, and this system seems to be working just dandy for me

well now that I'm stoned ... again :D ... I'm going to add to what I put earlier. actually, I'm going to correct myself.

k. when I said you will get the best by topping the plant, I wasn't wrong, but, what I should have said is that it's not really a clone of the mother, it's a perpetuation of it - you are simply rerooting the original plant. it is still the "head" of the mother, you just cut off all it's "arms" so genetic degredation is virtually nonexistant - at least that's what logic seems to dictate...
