Well you have two choices. Transplant or let them stay in the pots they are in and be rootbound. That's about it. ;)

get a bigger pot, maybe wider, and BEND that plant over

will my plants being root bound inhibit the growth? bonsai trees grow while being incredibly root bound. i am thinking about going with those rectangular pots that are about 2 feet wide and about 10 inches deep. i could put four plants in one of those.

yes... what you want is volume of soil for the roots to grow in... if you can't go deeper, go wider. go with as much volume as you can get with your height restrictions... if the roots can't grow down, they will just grow out....:woohoo:

:confused:4 plants in one potter  thats not such a good idea. then not only wil they be feeding off of the same soil at the same time causing more deffiencies in it but they will be choking each other and slow growing at the same time. My last 2 plants were given to me and they were in the same potter it was a mess both took lots longer to grow and it caused lots of problems for the soil pH for a while till i found out what was the balance for them. they came out smokeable in the end but it did slow their growth quite a bit.

IMO its best to move your plants homes as little as possible no more then one transplant unless it can be avoided altogether. in my room i use 3gal (12qt) potters until I'm ready to flower then i do just the one transplant into a 5 gal ( 20 qt) potter as i like to keep things as inexpensive as possible Ive used the local dollar store for all of my 3gal buckets got them for a buck each and all of my 5 gal buckets have come from job sites (new home) i paint and we usually just toss buckets out at the end of the day so i get them and use them i recommend this if you can get them as it will lower your costs for growing and they can be reused many times,
