LST can be used from the moment a plant breaks ground. The use of LST does nothing but redirect the growth of the plant in a direction chosen by the grower. It must be done in a manner that won't harm the plant with stress to the stem. A very gentle repositioning of the stem results in the plant reinforcing it's stem and the new position is maintained.

There really isn't a "right" time to use it. It's the growers decision when and to what degree it's used.

One of the byproducts of LST is that new upward growing branches will start growing faster when they become the receptors of the "tallest growth" hormones produced by the plant. This in turn will provide more budding locations.

However, LST can be done on any plant at any time. I have an oak sapling I've been training for 5 years. It's about 6 feet tall and now has a very nice weave going from the ground to it's tip. It'll be a very interesting tree in another 10 years...(I hope I'm around to see it)

Yes, it would. However, it's growing in my yard and the photo would be very easy to compare to the actual tree in real life.

What a drag that that type of photo is a risk. All I would need is some cop in my town seeing that photo and saying "I know that tree!"

Yikes!

It's really easy to do. When I go out to mow, I just look at it and if another weave is possible, I give it a wrap! With an oak, it's a pretty slow process. hehe

Yeah, and sorry man, they didn't let me shave before the photo I used for my avatar. I look like hell!
