My plants are always slow to flower. I have some in there that have been in my flowering room for 3 weeks and haven't even shown sex yet.
Alternating nodes before going in, 12/12 light, 400 watt hps, temps between 65-75, lights come on when its dark out and off when it is dark out. So I don't think it has anything to do with light leaks. Sometimes I would open the door when the lights are out, at the most 10 minutes, but mostly just for a minute, just to check on them. Would that do it?
Oh and the flowering period for my plants are 8-9 weeks. Any suggestions?

I have left it open maybe twice in three weeks for 10 minutes. Most of the time I would just poke my head in the room for a second. And that only happens about twice a week if I get home too late from work. And my lights are on during the day as well, just are days are so short here they come on and go off when its dark.

When your plants are in their dark period, any light (except green) will cause an interruption in the flowering process. When the plant is suybjected to light during the dark period, it believes that it should be vegetating and goes into a vegetative state again. It can take the plant days to get back to the flowering thing.

I wouldn't think that opening the door would interrupt the light schedule. And I don't have direct light on them either. Just lights from the outer room. What if I turn my lights to a 11 hr light and 13 hr darkness to see if that helps? Or is that a bad idea?

i wouldnt mess with the lighting times anymore.
and yes, opening the door, during dark period...is bad no matter how you cut it.
Unless you have the exact color green bulb needed to view your plants....then never ever disturb your plant at night....its not worth it.
you can see them in either 12 hours or 6 hours....so just wait.

Maybe you wouldn't think that it would hurt them, but it does. Even indirect light from an adjacent room affects the flowering. I even cover over or remove the small "power indicator" lights that come on electrical splitters and heating and cooling equipment. The room adjacent to my grow closet has blackout curtains and my grow room has a green light in case I need to enter during dark time. However, it has to be something really important for me to disturb my girls during their dark time.
IMHO, you only need CO2 if you do not have adequate ventilation or you have a very large grow.

I will just have to leave my babies while they are sleeping from now on. Small grow, 17 plants all from seed, and threw three males out so far. Purple power are a really tuff plant and easy to grow. Jillybean does not like nutes, but easy to grow and very robust. Having troubles with Northern Skunk. Will get some pics up soon.

hee hee.. I dunno' TT, but c02 isn't a cure for much of 'anything'.
In order for the plants to utilize higher concentrations of c02, the temps "need" to be up into the 90 degree range, but the c02 also needs to be introduced/added over a period of time, at a "controlled" rate(ppm's), in a controolled environment, in order to be effective.
"Fresh air" has all of the c02 that plants need, at the recommended 70-80 degree growing tmps.
When light within a certain spectrum hits the surface of the plants chlorophyll receptors, it prompts a hormone called florigen to be produced.
Another hormone named antiflorigen is produced by flowering plants. The ratio between these two hormones is what causes a plant to flower or not.
In the plants leaves, another chemical named phytochrome that is necessary to react with florigen to produce flowers.
When the phytochrome within the leaves of a plant receive a duration of light that would be considered "short day light" by that exact plant, then the antiflorigen is repressed and the florigen is increased, thus causing the plant to start flowering.
If the duration of light of correct spectrum and intensity is interrupted from a "short day", anywhere within the "dark cycle", it causes the plant to again start producing antiflorigen. The ratio between the florigen and antiflorigen is altered and flowering will decrease or stop..... http://www.marijuanapassion.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8937
