I suppose this may have been discussed in here a time or two...

I wondered what the effects of legalization would be???
would prices of legal weed drop like a hot blade thru pure melt???
I hardly think so...:hubba:
Would the tax revenues generated justify the taxation???
I am not so much in favor of more taxes, but product based flat rate taxes are by far the fairest form...:hubba:
Would underground growing cease???
taxes would lead to evasion, so I think there would always be a few guerilla ops...
What about the quality of the smoke???
I would venture to say the weed would get better exponentially, seasonally...:D I can hardly wait!!!

Happy New Years MP, where ever you are!!!

Aside from the economical stuff...Underground mass growing wouldn't make as much sense, the kind of growing on this website would totally continue.. without carbon filters.. We'd be trading 8ths of our newest harvest with that of our neighbors and it'd be prescribed in place of a lot of pharmeceuticals..

I think it may only be possible with true democracy, which the world has yet to see. A complete revolution of power, in the case of the U.S., power needs to be stripped from the old and the white and the rich. "Elected" officials need to be replaced with random representatives. Only then can you eliminate money and politics from the process, as well as get a true representation as far as women and minorities are concerned.
Freedom through random numbers!!! It couldn't be any worse!!! Screw the politicians, the lobbyists, the corporations!!! Make them obsolete!!! Revolution through Randomization!!!

I look forward to the day when I get rid of surplus weed from my garden by putting a card table on the front lawn with a pile of buds and a jar for self-payment ...(ala zuchinni, cukes, peppers, and tomatoes...)

Great questions! The other answers seem almost political in response. But I think you already know the answers to your questions. If cannabis was legal would the price come down? Well if you look at Holland, where's your answer. Taxation is inevitable. Was this a rhetorical question?

alas...I've been waiting since I 1st smoked in 1968 for legalization of a perfectly wonderful substance...I thought we were close to legalization before Reagan clamped down in the late 1970's, but I think we are farther away than ever...
commercialization is gonna hurt the cause I think, but maybe the gov will figger it's like alcohol prohibition, better to join in than to fight it...tax revenues for a commercial product could be outstanding...

either way, I'll keep growing as long as I'm able, always trying to grow the best weed i can grow...
