Alright I've been talking and talking about it for awhile but the time has come and I have to do it, I need to loose weight. I need to get my body looking decent for the summer this year. I hate how I look ( im not like FAT, just chubby ) But the things that are hard is running for a long period due to knee operation(s) and the munchies! I know now on when I smoke either I'm drinking water or like fruit snacks, cause I can't eat the crap I do while high and there aint no way im stopping smokin lol.

So do you guys have any pointers on good ways to loose weight?

If you have knee problems.. don't run as an exercise. It's very hard on the joints, and you want to be doing good to your body!
Try biking, or swimming, they might better suite you.

Hey Sampson, good luck with your plans. Losing weight is just as much in your mind as your body. As a diabetic with heart problems, I have to always think of what the result of what I'm going to eat will do to me. It makes me put the bad things back down.

Any exercise that involves the knees in any way doesn't sound like a good idea to me. It would probably hurt more than help as King Bud said.

If you bagged your thighs with something to keep them from moving or had someone hold them, you could do some crunches starting with the very easy ones first. I hate them, but they will make pounds drop off you like butter. Some seated aerobics would help also. Both my knees have seen the knife. I understand knee pain.

Go for it! Drink lots and lots of water.

Eat GREENS - BEANS and meat.
(In order of quantity)

Go easy on the fresh fruit. It's natural sugars, but still sugars.

Don't go nuts about it. It's better to do it simpler and more serious that insane with exercise. Start small and work your way up.

Thanks everyone, I will be going real easy on my knee cause I am always scared of something happening and I will be taking up biking hopefully soon! ( need a bike )

Yo Sampson,
When I was all consumed with losing weight, I just remember what the military taught me. Increase the calorie burn, decrease the calorie intake. I add to it lots of good fresh walks to bring you back to life. Take a single hoober with you, and be very prepared to snarf it fast, but if you can, puff at it while trying to step it out for a good healthy walk. I promise you that the buzz will certainly be more intense.
The pace of walking should be fast enough that you would have to work to have a conversation with someone that was walking with you. Take a bit of water with you.
Green fruit is also very good for you as the sugars are not all there, and the nutritional value is. The reason for semi ripe fruits like a early apple is that it will cut back on the feelings of hunger for ya. Cut way back on fatty foods, way-way back on desserts and fries and the obvious fats. Seriously consider veggy's as they are good for you. Dark green veggies as well as the orange and yellow veggies are high in anti-oxidents, and that is important while losing wieght.
If your urine starts to take on a darker color, then up the amount of water that you are drinking, DON'T strain the kidneys too much.
As POTUS said an equal share of dieting is in your head also. Where you allow yourself to be mentally over it should be helped by that hoober, that's why I mentioned it.
Oh !!! By the way women do tend to notice a man exercising after awhile and that might or might not be to your benifit. Get yourself a cd player that can be worn on your waistband, and rock on bro.

You need to first start with conditioning your mind.

visualize how skinny you want to be.....and then visualise how skinny you are becoming. get out of the shower....look in the mirror, and say with that little voice inside of your mind, "i'm looking more like myself today"! Be proud of your results daily. Feel good about yourself, nomatter what you look like. You ARE improving your health and attitude daily. before you head out into the world, visualize yourself walking through that breakroom during the day and skipping all the "filler food" crap most people cant resist. you know...all that junkfood stuff those weak minded lazy people gotta have cuz they've convinced themselves that it makes them feel good.

this sounds nuts...i know. but think of it this way. your sight, smell, hearing, touch, all are processed in your mind. without your mind processing the information, the senses are worthless. Nothing is truly accurate in a persons mind anyways cuz everyone conditions there mind over years and years of processing info "our own way". there are millions and millions of cell structures FILTERING information into your mind. after time and repetetive conditioning some things will not even exist to you anymore. You'll overlook them like they don't exist

i have a really cool example of this. unfortuneatly i do not know where i have it. maybe i can locate it.

my point is this simply. Your mind is the single most important factor in the success of anything you do. You must always have positive reinforcement.

start by changing your perspective from temporary perception of diet...to permanent vision of changing your eating habits. FOREVER man. If you think "diet"....your thinking temporary change....which leads to resistence in your mind. most people respond to change negatively. they associate change with sacrificing something, which means giving up things you like. and guess what, you'll snap back from your diet within weeks, if even that long. If you make a real commitment, and are excited about the positive permanent benefits you ARE seeing daily because you are eating healthy, you will continue to find yourself with a better attitude and waist line.

apply this to anything/everything you do.

Thanks everyone for your advice. I'm getting confident that I will loose the weght and I'm picturing it. I'm starting today on eating healthier and working out, just ate oatmeal and soon going to go for a walk/jogg..

I watched my sister lose weight just by cutting out PARTIALLY HYDROGENATED OILS. It is hard to do but I promise it will make a difference. If everyone knew how deleterious these oils are for us no one would eat anything with these oils in it. It is said that virgin coconut oil is great for your health and is also known to increase metabolism, but it has to be virgin or extra virgin (same thing) not just coconut oil. I have Crohn's disease and I have to watch everything I eat. Because of this fact I have done a great deal of reading on nutrition. If you do the first thing I said ( cut out partially Hydrogenated oils) you will see a difference within a month.

If you want to purchase virgin coconut oil, I found it pretty cheap at www.ecoviva.com. I am in no way affiliated with this site, it is just the cheapest I have found.
