I have read all the information for growing, but was wondering how different it is for growing hydroponics. I have an ebb and flow system using hydroton (spelling?), which are the small, round brown clay rocks. 9hat are the best nutes to use with this type of system? I am still new to growing. Any input would be appreciated.

I prefer General Hydroponics "Flora Series" 3 part nutrient.
It's extremely adaptable for different strains and stages of growth.
If you use it, start with a 1/4 strength mix and nothing before the plant is at least 4 to 6 inches tall.
It works great for me. I have a 3.5 x 5.5 foot area and harvest a cured pound from it on every crop using two 400 watt HPS for the entire grow.
Good luck to you!

I use GH's FloraNova Grow for vegging and FloraNova Bloom for flowering, about 75% strenghth, then Koolbloom later on.

How many plants are you growing in that square footage?

I appreciate the info.
Has anyone used Botanicare Power Flower and Power Plant? How about Diamond Nectar?

When you say to use 1/4 strength, is that throughout the entire growing process? Or do you gradually change to full strength?

If there were a definate answer there would be no need for the question. The thing is different people comprehend thing differently. Some people need to keep it basic, where some are scientific. So there are alotta different foods out there that all work wonderfully when used proper. With hydro whatever u choose make sure its totally water soluble and make sure you`ve got the right stuff for the job. I personally use DNF 2part (other 2parts are very similar) as a building block. I add several enhancers to it, because it alone would produce very BLAH weed. Goodluck with making ur decision, its not easy. I have plans to try lots of different foods, Variety is the spice of life!!!
Peace!!

I use Botanicare pro blend or House and Gardens Aqua Flakes and Hydro mix. I like both a lot.

I start with 1/8th strength for my clones. I mix that with a cloning/rooting concentrate during the rooting.
Then, when I first move the clones into the ebb and flow system, I use the 1/8th strength until the plants have gotten over any transplant/relocation shock and start growing well. I move it to 1/4 strength then until the plant is about 4 to 6 inches tall with obvious healthy new growth. Then I move it to 1/2 at about 8 to 12 inches, and full strength at about 12 to 15 inches until changing to a flowering full strength mix. Over the years, I've found that the plants stay very healthy the entire grow with no sign of any stress.

gangalama, I completely understand what you are saying. I'm just trying to get an idea of what people are using and having success with. Or if there are any that I should stay away from.
Thanks everyone. All the additional information I can get, the better. :)
