First of all, soil in my area is real bad and buying 20 lb bags is a must (no 40 lb bags near me). My local gardening store sells one 20 lb bag of high quality topsoil for $10, so as you can see it can be quite expensive.

I am planning on having 4 plots this year. I am trying to figure out how many lbs of soil will be needed to fill one plot. Each plot is 3ft x 3ft and 2 ft. deep. How many pounds of soil will be needed to fill one "hole"? Trying to figure out all costs ahead of time.

so each hole is .71 cubic yards, but still how many pounds of soil is needed to fill .71 cubic yards?

there's not a standard weight for soil, on the 20 lb bags they probably show a volume in cubic feet
