I am wanting to make a trip to Amsterdam...I am doing this on a budget...I am trying to find a cool hotel...I do not mind paying for what I want...just trying to get a good deal...the travel sites are very confusing...also how do you find a good airline cheap???
Any ideas???

Your best bet would be to check out some of the discount airfare and hotel service sites, like hotwire or priceline. JetBlue is cheap but doesn't fly to Amsterdam.

I recommend going to a travel agent... it is their business to find the best deals/packages and they have the resources to do such... just my opinion....

Depends on what travel agent you are going through. Some travel agents believe their job is to make as large of a commision as possible for every deal they make. It's hard to find a good travel agent who genuinely wants to help instead of take your hard earned cash.

cheepest way to fly, book wayyyy in advance. use expedia or travelocity to check prices...but reserve WITH THE AIRLINE so incase the flight is overbooked, you will still have yer seat- any travel service comes second.
you will fly out of heartsfield, i suggest getting there at least AT LEAST an hr early- as customs might take a while flying out. dont park while yer there, ive had my vehicle messed with while letting it sit in park n fly over two weeks. get dropped off or taxi if you can.
have a safe trip!!!

if you're not into the online research it takes, get a (Lonely Planet) book on Europe or Amsterdam. They're great. Down to earth, up to date...perfect for backpackers, and hotelers alike.
Also, if you're REALLY not into planning your own trip, use a travel agent. Find one in the smallest town near you, and find a big fancy add in the yellow pages. Give them BOTH the EXACT...EXACT same requirements for your travel, and wait for a quote, and options. 9 times out of 10 the small town broker you can barter with, but remember, you're paying them for the work YOU don't want to do. A little extra with an agent often goes a long way tho, especially at larger agencies. They have had someone do the same trip as you, and often have very up to date travel info. I've gotten calls in the airport with travel updates from my agent before, with no extra charge, just a guarantee of business for her next time. All $25 of her booking fee!!!
Good luck, and good travel. I plan on the Dam in the end of summer!!
