was looking into this and was woundering how does the water drain? theres only two tubes. one where the water comes in and the overflow which catchs the water before the container over flows. Obvisly the overflow won't collect all the water, so does it just get sipphioned out through the inlet tube? i thinking of the one where the guy on youtube (the green guy)

Yes, it'll drain back down, through the pump. The pump is off, so the blades inside spin freely.

Sometimes you need more than one overflow, depending on your pump and drain size.

You're a wise man.
Yes, the process of the drain while the pump is off is called "Gravity Draining".
Some pumps won't support this method. Make sure that the pump you buy says that it will support gravity draining, free draining, back draining, or reverse draining. These are all terms that mean the same exact thing in this usage.
Outside is ALWAYS a great place to try your recent hydroponic invention.
