I have had problems with root rot in the past. Do the roots have to be pure white as I have seen in pictures or is off white acceptable?

your nutes will stain the roots...so depending on brand they could be yellow, brown, etc.

root rot should not be happening. do you have light getting into your res?

go to your local hydro store and get some hydroguard. also, do not put Super Thrive in your resivior. just foliar feed and not ongoing throughout the grow just during signs of stress.

you dont need to buy anything just 3 drops per gallon poroxide would do it the p[lant will still grow fine superthive coundnt hurt in flowering stage grow new clean healthy white roots

It sounds like either there is light leaking into the res....good luck with it though.
