I wanted to try a experimental SOG grow using a hydro hut if possible. I was looking at getting the 8x4, and fitting about 36+ plants in there. Will that be enough room to do a SOG with that many plants? It says it will hold 2 1kw bulbs. so will that be enough light also? Thanks.

More than enough light. Hard to keep cool, the fixtures need to be air cooled. Co2 should be used with that much light. I would say you can go 50+ plants, thats a pretty large area for sog.

2K would be plenty of light for that area but you will most likely have problems trying to keep an ideal temp for your ladies. I would go with 1K of light in there and maybe set up two of them. That would probably work better. Keep us posted on what you decide to de. Take care and be safe.

I have the air cooled hoods, but not much experience, so Im not sure exactly how much that will help with the heat. I think there is a smaller 4x4 tent I could buy. I did not realize I could fit so many in, so a smaller tent would be just fine.

How many do you think I could get in the 4x4? I thought i could get about 1 plant per square foot, but I have read you could do up to 2 per square foot. What do you think i could yied using SOG per plant? Would an ounce per plant be too much to expect? I know all strains are different, but what is an average? I plan on vegging about 2 weeks at 24/0 (if room temp is good) after the clones are rooted.

I do have another question since this will be my first hydro grow. Will I be able to use a flow table for a SOG from start to finish, or will I have to put them in something else when they get bigger? Sorry, im only familiar with soil setups that friends have done.

howdy s150, 2x4 tray i do 18- 21 clones,flower@4-5in tall, get a little over an oz per sq ft...primo down to lowest buds.with all the light u got u might want to to a few less and let them get a little bigger before flowering.careful lettin them get to big, they will probably triple in size when u flip the lights. 2per sq ft sounds good to start. yes, same flood tray start to finish. your yeild should be better than mine, when you get it dialed in cause im im only runnin 400hps. good luck, hope i helped

Thanks for all the info, it helps alot. I have a couple quick questions for you if you could take a few moments to answer them.

1. How many weeks would you say it takes you from start to finish?

2. You say you flower @ 4-5in tall. Are you vegging at all, and if so, how long?

3. do you have your grow area enclosed, or are you just using a bedroom?

4. with the 20 clones or so, are you running out of room on the flood table?

5. Thanks.

start to finish 7-9wks(strains ive done)~veg 24hrs on till i see new growth(3-7days)~flower 1 day after new growth~5ftx5ft(very roughly)enclosed with squirell exhaust~my goal with 3 per sq ft is to have them no taller than 18in. With familiar strains i have learned to do this, however the freak strain im growing now(pics in hydro@SOG gone wild) has turned into a complete jungle 3wks into flower. The reason i keep them small is so the 400hps can reach to bottom(100% primo bud baby!) and also for quick start to finish.

id say with good conditions an oz a clone is not hard to come by. with 2k watts i think under ideal conditions youd be suprised if you planted on 6 inch centers.SOG is my fav by far!
