View Full Version : Will This Work?
Ok, im new to growing my own crops and dont know much so if anyone could 'help me it would be great. My seeds are just bag seeds. I planted them 1/2 to 1/4 inch. I'm not to new to this so please help and flame me.
Basically im hiding my plants in the closet in my room. Im using 70% gardening soil, 20% goat compost, 10% maricle grow. Im also using a mini fan, and a flourescent light bulb. I plan on watering it every 2 days, and try to put it out in the sun everyday.

WELCOME TO MP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ok, lower the light to a few inches on top of plants, put outside all you can but leave the fixture on 24/0 (24/7).
make sure both containers have good drianage and water only when they need them.
ditch the MG products and stick to organic compost. i have a arreated compost tea thread here that will work great with the goat poo.
read a grow guide in my SIG* and away u go!
goodluck!
i just hope my seeds arnt blanks, i still have 3 left if this works

nice looking it would be better if it wasnt by the water heater... but you know got to do what you got to do and yea i would say lower the light to almost the top of the pots that what i did when i started growing my first baby and with cfls you want to keep the light about 2 inches away for best growth and i have that same fan =]] but yea more power to you and a quick question did you germinate the seeds

Yup, if that's a flo or CFL get it right down next to it or else you will have your plants all stretched out and barely able to hold themselves up.
Throw out that MG and try and look up some soil mix threads on the site too. I like to use my own soil mixes, but using pro mix is great too.
Remember just to keep asking questions and reading up on old threads if you ever find yourself in a fix or something is wrong with your plant. Hope to see some green from ya!

Gardening soil can be to heavy for young plants...what i would do is go with a 3/4 miracle gro 1/4 perlite mix. I have used MG soil since i started here some 1000 posts ago(despite the name change) and have always had positive results. IT'S A MIRACLE MAN!
Just get that light closer man...my fluoro grow light can be place within two inches without any heat damage. Test it with the back of your hand.
I hope I see some babies growin soon!
Peace!

Welcome to MP. Good to have you here. Definitely lower the lights as close as you can. You may also want to try to get more cfls for your babies. That would help out immensely. The more lumens, the better. Keep us posted on your progress. Take care and be safe.

If you get MG for your next grow, be wary which kind you choose! Some MG has time release nutes in it that can and will give your plant nutrient burn. I don't remember if it was MG Moisture Control or MG Organic that gave me a terrible gnat problem as well.
Search through the forum if you're looking to change soils. A lot of people like to mix their own soil or use a pro mix. I've been mixing my own for almost a year now and I like it way better than any soil I've bought from the store.

my soil is pretty light, and i did lower that light, im going to place my plants inside a foil reflective box tomarrow, and the MG i got was out of a old plants flower pot so i doubt the nutes are that strong

I hope that you do not mean tin foil...Please buy some mylar or panda (poly) film, tin foil create hot spots and really is not that reflective when you take into account all of its specifications.
