How close should i keep my cfl to my seedlings , my understanding is to have them fairly close.
I put my CFLs about a inch from the top of the plant :)

If your Flos are the T5's you might want to start at 6" away. my T5's Burn hotter then my T12 ever could.:D

As close as you can get without burning them. I have seen cfl's burn plants, but most won't. My suggestion would be keeping cfl's about 2" away and tube flo's .5-1" away.

yeah your good at about an inch or 2 the dont get that hot. the only time i ever had cfls burn is when they grew into them on a day and actually touched the bulb
Tubes ussaly produce more heat than CFLs in my opionion :)

Never had tubes burn my plants, even when they were touching unless it was for an extended period of time. I've had a 42w cfl burn a plant from 4 inches above. Really depends on the bulb I suppose.

i use them cfl's too mine are 100w,,,,, and what ive learn from them is to keep them about 2" to 3" away from the top( when im not there),,,, but now you are going to have to watch it,,, i know there has been a couple times ive came home from work and the plant would have a growth spurt and be all in my lights,,,,,, poor tips would be burnt,,,,,but this is what ive gone thru with these

the shop lights are not T5's. T5's are very thin compared to the shop T12 Or T8's.If i put the heat censor just under the light it hits high 80's no problem.
