I'm not familiar with the mushroom compost but the promix will be fine alone.

That crazy vancouver guy

I use Promix HP right outta the bag, and it appears to be just fine as is... if you were going to add the mushroom manure to it, I would go very, very light in the mix...any idea what the NPK ratio of the manure is?

all I'm thinking is... be carefull you don't burn the plants....

I have used it with good results. For the price its a good pick-up, and the best soil they have at Home Depot in my opinion.

I would just use the pro mix and some good fox farms nutes. That's what I have always used and had fantastic results. Just my thoughts. Take care and be safe.

and put a layor of stones under the soil, do yall do this? since nobody has said anything about it yet i figured it wasnt necessary. i was wandering if i did put river rock at the buttom whould the roots grow through and still show when needed transplanted? i guess ill skip on the mushroom compost for now. i wanted 20 percent worm castings in mine because that mix seems to be working pretty good for bbp thanks for the advise you put me on the pro mix in the first place. i know foxfarm is the **** and all, but for this grow im just wanting to pick something up from home depot or lowes or something so my choices are schultz 10-15-10 or peters water soluble 20-20-20 with micro nutrients witch do you all think is better?

after looking at there website again i seen that the only two kinds of pro mix i can get, potting and seeding, and containers, both have time released ferts in it, feeds up to nine months. thats one of the first things i learned here is to stay away from that.. i dont know, is it different for pro mix?

if you click on gardening guide, then key hints and read under when to fertilize

Pro-mix is a great base soil. It isn't heavy on the N-P-K so seedlings thrive in it and once you need to transplant, the soil is almost like having a clean slate for you to do whatever you please... Great stuff and it's all I use now. :aok:

but does this one have time released ferts in it and if it does what do i need to know so that i dont burn them?

if it is promix it should have little to no nutrients. I use mushroom compost with my mix and I love it, it give the soil a shot of microbes. For my mix I use 1pt peat moss, 1pt vermiculite, 1 pt mushroom compost, and 1pt perlite and lime. So for mushroom compost I would say add no more than 25% additional mushroom compost. As long as your soil drains well and is a light mix you should be fine. It's not an exact science!

It's not an exact science!

Ho boy! Don't say that one too loud! hahah. But, I do agree. It isn't an exact science.... Hell, this plants have lived a lot longer without human intervention rather than with. Keep it as simple or as complex as you want... Just be sure you're having fun doing it! :ccc:

but does this one have time released ferts in it and if it does what do i need to know so that i dont burn them? Are they time released ferts or starter nutes? All promix has starter nutes but they aren't hot enough to burn seedlings. I've started plants in it with no problems.

Go to a landscape supplier and get the "ProMix in the compressed bail ,much cheaper.
Home Depot is just another corporate monster
