There is a list of clone-only strains in the Cannabible and then I see a lot of seedbanks selling seeds of those strains. What the heck is going on? Does that mean the seeds are fakes? Isnt that false advertisement?
If they cross a clone-only strain with a normal strain will the offspring from that produce viable seeds? Is that how they do it? Im really confused on this one. I see different banks selling diesel crosses but diesel is supposed to be clone-only. Are they the real deal?

More likely the seeds are being produced by chemical reversal(hermaphrodism).. and "selfing"...
" If they cross a clone-only strain with a normal strain will the offspring from that produce viable seeds?"... yes, it will produce viable seeds, but seeds will be an F1 hybrid, and not a true breeding or stable strain without a great deal of slection and back crossing work.

So that would mean the seeds being sold would have some of the "real" genetics but its technically not the true strain that is being advertised. I dont know a whole lot about breeding but I personally would never breed with hermies.

Read some of the links in this thread and it will tell you everything you need to know about breeding and stabilizing traits.. Dominant and recessive traits and so on.

...EGGZAKTLY...even "selfed" seeds will not, IMO/E positively reflect the same phenotype as the origonal, which is "usually" all that a "clone only" strain actually is.... an exceptional pneno of any random strain.

Oh ok. I thought clone-only strains produced seeds that wont germinate and that is why they are called clone-only. I learn new things every day on here. But I would hope so considering how much time I spend on this forum.
Thanks Hick
clone only strains or "elites".. :p are predominately, an exceptionally good female phenotype. Being as it is a "one of a kind" female, it is impossible for it to produce seeds. THAT gives it the "elite" status.
Once a males 50% of genetics has been introducd, it no longer has only those 'elite' genetics. You will get different phenos from the seeds. "Selection, selection, selection".. will be required in order to get it back to representing only those traits that you desire.

It all makes sense now. Thanks
