I have one male plant in my flower closet and I was wondering if there was an average age or time that it takes the pollen sacs to burst open and spread. I want to keep it in my closet for a few more days and then it will go outside. Im not sure about the age, maybe six or seven weeks or maybe older. It still has a long ways to go cause it only has a few balls starting to grow right now.
I just dont want to come home and find my whole flower closet pollinated but there is family around this weekend and I cant have any plants in the backyard or on the deck.

By the sounds of it, you don't have an option really. The only sure way is to move it away from your other plants or snap it's neck. I assume because you're keeping it, you want to collect pollen.
It "should" be ok, but at the ned of the day it's your call.
You might consider cutting all of the flowering shoots off. Anything that looks like it might mature and open in the very near future. If you get them all, and if it doesn't kill him ;), he should reproduce more stamin throughout the following weeks.
