Anyone know about Poinsettias?

Usually after Christmas these plants quit blooming and die.

Mine is still blooming! Is mine a freak?

I looked online, and it suggests cutting them back to about 1/2 their size if you want them blooming again the next winter. But it says to wait and trim once blooming is done, and that its usually done in March or April. Here it is almost June!

I don't know what to do.

My deceased daddy loved these plants, and I bought it in his honor. Maybe he's the reason its still pretty. :)

Anyone have any suggestions?

My suggestion is don't change a thing. The can last all year around but only develop red in season. For it being older, it should know to go all green and when to turn red, etc., etc. So whatever it is, it's growing and blooming. Keep it happy and healthy. Looks like your green thumb, is like that for more than just one reason. :-)

HAHAH no way!!! someone asking about Poinsettas ).... well if you can grow Pot... You can get a poinsetta to rebloom.....


After the plant sheds it's bloom leaves... cut the new growth off and veg the plant.... On or around October 1.... Put the plant into a 12/12 cycle, you dont need to put it in a hid light. a shoplight will do just fine... Poinsettas dont need near the light that MJ does... by Christmas, you will have a well blooming poinsetta )...

My Dad has had his poinsettas for about 5 years now and reblooms them every year. I kinda laugh at how similar it is to growing MJ, and I have even offered to build him a bloom room in one of his closets so he wont have to remember to put the heavy garbage bags on and off of his plants, but he declines.... I guess it gives him something to do everynight.

PS... your plantrs should start shedding their blooms anytime now.... My dad's has just started to drop them now.
