Im Just Getting Started In This Growing Thing And Im Wondering Witch Is The Right Way To Go Soil Or Hydropinics. I Have Been Reading Alot About Both And I Cant Make Up My Mind. I Know It Would Be Cheaper To Grow From Soil. See I Want The Best Buds And At The Qiukest Time. So Can Some Pleae Give Me Some Tips To Help Me Make Up My Mind. Any Comments Will Help. well, there's lots to learn, so I would recommend soil for a first grow. Much better chance of a harvest while you learn. Hydro is a great method to cultivate bud efficiently but it takes some learning and lots of time and a little more money to get going good.

Well i started with both soil and hydro... I would prefer hydro, just amazing results and a lot easier.. But all depends on the space your working with and how much you want to spend..

I think it depends on your goals and what your plant rearing experience is like. Some people say soil is easier and some say soil. I have seen hydro wizards do horrible soil and vice versa. If you want speed hydro can be quicker. I started like Timmy, half and half but I had grown legal stuff for years and had a slight knowledge already of both. What kind of hydro were you leaning towards? DWC, Ebb and Flow, Aero, etc.?
Have you ever grown anything before, anything not just MJ.

I have more confidence in leaving a soil plant grow for 46-60 hours than a hydro grow.
and let me say this, I'm a relative beginner in good indoor grows. five good grows in the last 2-3 years.

Howdy MJH!!! :ciao:
:farm: If I were to start all over, I'd go with dwc. all you need is an airpump an airstone and a res of any type. the plants suspend in the res top in net pots and the roots are allowed to grow into the aireated nutes. :hubba:
hydro is great because you can control the nutes precisely. soil is supposed to give a better tasting smoke, but I cant tell the difference with the same amendments, eh. ;)

I agree with that, although I think it all depends on what type of hydro...some require very little in the way of upkeep. But the electricity and loss of could be a disaster in hydro. But it depends on the type IMO and how long the electric is out for. Also the pH would probably move on you in 46 to 60 hours that's for sure LOL.
But on the other hand I think sometimes people get intimidated by hydro and think it's harder than it really is.

Another thing to consider is a soil-less grow. Get some coco coir or vermiculite and perlite. Soil-less gardens have somewhat of the best of both worlds. They grow with the speed of hydroponics, but with the ease of soil. Unlinke soil soil-less gardens can just sit in a rez full of nute solution constantly, with no worries of overwatering. I think this is the best transition for anyone interested in hydro. I grow in a variation of dwc multi buckets but i always keep a few Mom's in soil-less containers.

I use Coco now instead of soil, half hydro and half Coco and MP is right they are very similar even down to the pH and all that jazz. Coco IMO is often overlooked but IMO it crushes soil, not in growth but it's easier to handle, flushes better, can't overwater etc etc.
Now you have to read up on a 3rd type of growing LOL.
In fact anything in my gallery in a pot is Coco.
Also do a search on Coco it really might be the way to go. Here's link of how I mix up my soiless medium, it's not going to teach you much but it might help you see what we mean

i agree, when you grow in coco, you dont have as much ph frustrations.
its the same price,if not.cheaper than rock wool also.if you do decide to grow hydroponically on a system and your power goes out, just dunk the rockwool,or whichever medium you decide to use.good luck-peace
