Every five weeks would be fine, but don't cut more than 1/3rd of the mom at a time.

Go with a CFL setup, cheap low heat etc.
The only strains that can't have moms are the autoflowers BTW, not sure what you are growing.

When a plant shows sex put it back into VEG stage you can keep a mother alive with just using floros or cfl's now if you are taking a mother that far into flowering it will take a while to convert her back to veg like 3 to 4 weeks sometimes....what i would do is make a cheap bubble cloner take some cuttings and clone yourself a new mother and you can keep her in veg for a long time...I know a guy who has a mother 9 yrs old and still gives great clone with very good quality....Make sur when you convert a mother from flower to veg you also change ferts and nutes to veg also good luck and hope this helps you some....take care

Using a small grow pot for the mother will keep her from growing too fast too.
