Labrador meets Skunk #1

Howdy MP Folks and dog lovers everywhere :ciao:

O300 hours this day, my young Lab Spook had an incounter with a cute little black and white stripped skunk..Apparently, the Skunk was pissed and did so on the dogs face. :eek:

I was a bit sleepy, and carried the 80# pup up to the shower. I showered the dog with vinegar/water, then shampoo'd him with a mixture of baking soda, dish soap and peroxide, and followed it up with a shampoo in baby shampoo. Then I boiled a saucepan of vinegar on the stove to clear the air in the house. So far so good.:o

What a mess!!! way, way, worse than the smell of drying weed. I can say for sure, ou-d' SnowWhite doesnt resemble a skunk odor. ;)

the point of this is to mention the vinegar on the stove idea for clearing the air of unwanted odor. Seems to do the trick.

Haha. I had a giant newfoundland/golden retriever mix I used to get to do the same to on a way too frequent occasion. She was a little over 100lbs at the time and hated showers. That was way too much fun, I shoulda been smoking then, maybe then I wouldn't have wanted to strangle her so much! Good idea with the vinegar too.

that stinks. funny thing is i like the smell of a skunk from a distance not up close. im not sure why. the vinager is a good idea. also tomato juice works to get the smell of a skunk off of people or animals. but it takes alot.. also vinager works on sun burns. pour a bottle in with a bath and just relax in it for about 30 mins and it takes the burn out. but you will stink all day
