It doesnt matter what trade name you use, the important thing is you get your grow medium with NO nutrients added, you control the feed, not the soil, you will need no nutrients for the first 3 weeks, just water, the nutrients needed for vegetative stage are different to feed at flowering stage, vegetative stage you need the NPK levels even, such as 20-20-20 or 14-14-14 or 8-8-8 the numbers are not that important, the important bit is they are as even as you can find, a flowering feed has the middle number higher, such as 20-30-20 or 16-25-16 or 5-19-5 get the idea?
The higher the numbers the stronger the feed so only do it 1/4 strength at first to see if the plant can take it, if the numbers are low you can use half strength instead.

yea thanks man, that helps a lot. but when you say "control the feed, not the soil" how do i feed it? i'm sure i sound completely new to this, but i'm having a little trouble figuring out exactly what you mean by that.
also when you say "you will need no nutrients for the first 3 weeks, just water, [...] veg stage you need the NPK levels even" do you mean to have the NPK levels the same in the first 3 weeks as the levels in the vegetative stage (3weeks - flowering stage)? like for example, start the seeds in 20-20-20 until flowering (4-6 weeks) then transport into soil with 20-30-20.
or do you mean, put them in soil with 0-0-0 for 3 weeks, transfer to 20-20-20 until flowering stage when you will put them in 20-30-20?
also is it necissary to transport, like is it worth the risk of shock?

the first three weeks your plant is alive in the dirt don't use anything to feed it, just plain water.. then after three weeks your plant should be growing good. at the end of three week you can start using something with an even NPK value, then when you get ready to start flowering the you use something with a low N value high P like hippy said i hope this makes since if not heres a link that might help.
