If i use hydroponics will i get a bigger yield on the same size plant? I can only have about a 2 foot tall plant in my grow area but if i use hydro could i have a higher yield than with dirt while still fitting into my confined space? I would be making the hydro setup also.... I know this is subjective but is there any general rule that like 2 setups that have same light and everything will be any different with dro?

First, I have to emphasize exactly what properly applied hydroponics does for a plant.
Every plant has top goals in relation to it's needs, that will allow it to grow to it's maximum potential in all respects.
Hydroponics is just a method of adjusting and supplying each of the variables involved in reaching those goals in the fastest manner possible.
The same can be done in every media that any plant can be grown in. Some react at a different pace than others, but that, in turn, is just another variable that has to be considered.
The same results can be attained from each type of media, so, to answer your question, no, not if the proper variables are applied to the dirt grow. However, to make that happen, the dirt grow would be a hybrid dirt/hydro grow. Not soil growing, but neither would it be hydroponics. In a plain dirt grow, it would be slower and more difficult to arrive at the plants highest potential, but it could be done.
If what you meant was "best AND fastest", then yes, the hydro would be the proper choice of method.
Radical LST can be applied that would keep surface to topmost tip of the highest point of the plant growth as short as 2 feet tall, but it's time consuming and work intensive to stay within this limitation.
Can you explain why you're restricted to only two feet of plant height? There may be many other variables involved that you haven't considered.

I am constrained to 2 feet because it is going to be in a 4 foot tall box with about a foot of potting and i need room for the light to go on top...

You'll need to become very good at LST. You'll have to train your plant(s) to almost touching the media surface during all of the vegetative cycle and half of the flowering cycle.
It can be done, but it'll require attention every single day.
Let me know if I can be of help with the LST.
Good luck man!
