Holy Humidity Batman..

:batman: .... I just got a digital temp/hum gauge today... And I gave it a little time to settle in and give a good reading... But that sucker hasn't gone past 79% humidity all day.. As high as 80 - 81%..:eek: Am I gonna have to get a dehumidifier or is this another thing I should not worry about. I covered my rockwool with 6 x 6 pieces of double ply dark garbage bag to help prevent mold.. I'm growing in a basement so it's always gonna be more humid than any other part of the house and probably prone to mold problems...

I had same issues awhile back... I did a basement gro, tapped into heat/ac duct into grow area and increased my exhaust until humidity fell to acceptable levels.

Not only is my hydro setup in a damp basement in a 3 x 3 x 7 stone closet.. With a washer and dryer 4 feet from it.. My old basement leaks occasionally from heavy rains, and the pipes create condensation whenever th a/c is on, I could go on...:ignore: But I will suffice 2 say that humidity is going to be my demon... If mold just takes to the rockwool Im cool with that thats controllable but if it can ruin a crop, uhhh.. I'm not cool withat..:cry:

Dehumidifier. If you were close I'd let you borrow mine... They are 100 bucks.. Or anything that absorbs moisture burlap bags, cedar logs, Fresh air is best!! Seal the $hit out of your room!!

Yeah thanks anyway Megatron.. I appriciate the offer, however I did find 4 or 5 going at garage sales used on Craigslist near my area.. I found one for as low as 70$..Beats the hell outta buying one from Lowes at 150$$:hubba:
Waiting on their emails back.. But you know the funny thing is, its humid outside, its been raining, and my ac has been on, and today I have been monotoring the humidity gauge and it is down to 69% at its lowest point... Still only one 8$ desktop fan ,however I did change the location to 4 in above the floor, and I have had the curtain open.. I'm wondering if maybe another 8$ fan, and using a thin shower curtain instead of a heavy old bed comforter could allow for better ventilationand be a cheap(er) fix.. Are there any other factors that contribute to hum% going \/.. Temp maybe?.. I have been running a cheap homemade C02 canister (newb).. OR maybe I should just smash humidity right in the mouth and spend the extra cash for the DH...:chuck:

You can also use a ozonater to control mold problems it has the added benefit of removing all the odor from your grow as well. The best solution is ventilation though and air movement.

If your vegging i wouldn't worry about it then, but when your flowering or if you already are then you might want to reduce the humidity, and im sure you know why already.
