A chemical that in certain forms (liquid) can be very toxic to humans, and pets if: Exposed to the skin, ingested orally through food or other means, inhaled for more than a 4 hour period, Contact with mucus membranes ect.. Potential human hazards in worst case scenarios include respiratory breakdown (failure possible), carcinogenic, Toxic saturation of blood could lead to CNS damage or breakdown..However the research I have done has shown that it is not harmful to plants. According to the EPA, and other Agricultural and Food Organizations, the synthetically organic compound is relatively benign to plants in studies done on pond algae, and other plants.. Due to the water soluble nature of the compound it is easily broken down by plants and dissolved in water. Why am I spouting off like I'm some kind of chemist?? I bought a Hot Shot No Pest Strip from Lowes, yesterday and decided to do my own research on the so-called "Clean and Odorless Vapor" that has been used in greenhouses, barns, snake cages ect. to control (kill) flying and crawling insects of every kind.. And I'll tell ya this stuff really works.. I was suffering from some of the problems others have mentioned in the forums.. gnats, flies, found a small spider trying to spin a web in my grow room.. And after I put this strip up, I saw a gnat fly into the grow room, do a complete 180 and high tailed it out of my plants living space inn a hurry.. However I started weighing the pros and cons of this "clean and odorless vapor" and since I live in the finished part of the basement I decided to take the strip I had up and transport it outside to hang... My rationale is to only bring it inside if I start noticing pest problems. My dog hangs out in the basement too, I just didn't know if it was worth the risk for a couple gnats.. If I get spidermites I'll be kicking my own.... I'm sure. I hope I made the right decision.. I posted this because I know some hydroers have the same problem and before you hang up this strip or one like it you'll have a heads up..

when I use no-pest strips i only use them in my closed off grow room for 12 hours, then I remove it for about 24 hours and then replace it for another 12 hours to get all of the unhatched eggs, and larvea. After that i am done with the strip and it gets trashed.
