why is it that i am still an "unknown quantity", there are people on here that have not been on here as long as i have, who have not posted as many times as i have, they have not been thanked as many times as i have and they have more rep. points and are labled as a "glorious beacon of light". how does this work?? i really like the site and i dont feel "unknown". sorry if i sound like a 12 year old school boy, i am just curious...:)

Who are you?
Patience, it will come, its like growing a plant, you cant rush it.
The more thanks your given, the more bars you get.
You have to remember something, you need to give as well as take on here ;)

I always wondered about it too  I think it's all based upon how many times you are thanked, and how many times you thank others

i think its a numbers thing, its based on how many times you've posted ,thanked and been thanked in how many posts. the higher you post count and thanks the better your rep. i could be wrong.

There is thanks, and there is rep, thanks is clicking the thanks, rep is clicking the scales.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. It's not a big deal or anything. Just provide sound advice and give thanks where it's deserved and you will build a reputation my friend. Just my thoughts. Take care and be safe.

Quite correct, its like a double card, thanks is thanks, and adds to your rep, clicking the scales is direct rep.
I believe you are all correct. It's all a kinda' silly IMO,... "numbers"' game.
I think the higher 'your' rep, the more rep point are awarded, when you "give" rep.
I 'think' that clicking the scale and giving 'direct rep' as HIE called it, gives more points, too.
It really only indicates that you have posted a lot and probably have made several friends on the forum. More of a "popularity" indicator in most cases.

The scale will give you 2 and the thanks gives you one every time its clicked but the thing is you can only give out the scale (2 pointer) once every few days if you haven't been on a thanks (1 pointer) too much. Ive always just thought it polite to thank someone for even posting in the thread i start or when it is truly helpful ;)

LOL.
It's always funny to see people on the internet create several accounts in attempt to further their own agenda. Mrniceguy, was it really worth the effort of thanking yourself over and over again to have a few more bars underneath your username? Get a life dude, nobody here is impressed. Geesh, the things some people will do for attention on an internet message board.
For those who are clueless about what I'm talking about, check out the profiles of che420, smokey420, and smokin-a-bowl (you can find them at the bottom of nearly every mrniceguy post). Look at the thanks, who they thanked, their post count, join date, check out what threads they posted in, and I think you'll catch my drift.

if that is a drift to catch (never even entered my mind someone would do what you said illusionalfate)......then, let them (or him) play their games, i dont want to play, i am here to read and post a journal for future reference. i feel even posting in some threads that i dont know enough to post, but sometimes i post, sometimes i am wrong, sometimes right but always reading.
like HippyinEngland says.....you never know it all.

Really, no matter what a person's rep on here is you can always judge them by their posts. Why worry about something that is not important. Really, is reputation that important here?
Honestly i could care less what you folks think, no offense... Reputation is something that is fake anyways. Mine used to say i had a rep beyond repute. NOw it says i have a brilliant future or some stuff. Who cares. I know i can grow,i don't need a multicolored bar to tell me i can.

Ouch baby, very ouch. Yeah, that's kinda lame I guess. Like the poeple say, who cares about rep or bars. If you have info to share or just need help then come here for that 'cause THAT'S what this place is all about. People helping people to avoid LEO and grow good, safe weed. Not "rep bars". :holysheep:
