I just got a little dose. Im not sure if we all do this or if its just me.
When i picture myself i never think of myself as getting older. I mean sure we all find a gray hair or two from time to time. Well i decided to grow a beard not very long ago, its been a while since i tried so i figured what the hay. Well today i decided to give it a trim. Upon going to the bathroom and havin a closer look at my new fuzzy face i discovered gray hair. I don't mean one or two. Im talkin about 50% gray. I have dark blonde hair so its not like my beard was gonna be dark or even real think but gray, come on now. im not that old, am I? It sucks to realize your not as young as you think you are. What was it that made you relize your age?

I have slowly realized over the last 4 years or so that I just can't do the things I used to. I lack the stamina I once had, everything takes longer, I don't heal as fast as I used to, and the arthritis is getting worse in my hands and knees. Basically, my body is breaking down faster than it can heal itself.

Don't have gray hair yet though, and mine is dark brown so gray would really show up.

Your not old until you feel you are. My Mum is "Old"... but no, she isn't. She's still a child at heart. And its that inner age that really defines all of us.

i still feel young, i mean i don't go out and jump fences any more but i still like to think im fresh out of my teens and thats just not the case. im in good shape, very healthy. I just remember seein people when i was younger that look like i do now and i thought they were old. now here i am. time sure does fly when your havin fun. don't get me wrong im only 31 but this gray hair is really knocked me for a loop.

this might be the wrong place to say this but here goes. About a year ago i had my first prostate exam. i knew what was comin but still wasn't happy about it. any way after the deed was done and my doctor was gettin ready to leave the room i insisted that he shack my hand before leaving.. there was noway someone was doin that to me and just walkin away.. shack my hand atleast.

Slowmo I would'nt worry about a few grey hairs you are still young beings your only 31 I am 41 and have not found a grey hair yet and i still feel young at heart but on thr other hand i feel OLD because of all my injuries i have put my body through. I have broken my back 3 times at the L5 L6 locations I have broken my neck had it fused back togehter had a compound fracture of right forarm and it is pined and plated had left knee replaced after motorbike accident plus a boat load of other things to many to list but all i can say is that we get up each day and keep on chugging along, we are only as old as we feel....take care...

lol you guys are babes,heck i'm 56 and feel young.i'm like tokie.been all broken up and had all together 16 surgeries on my spine.still can out do alot of younger bucks.but talkin about the hair,i have just a few gray gairs on my head,but let me frow a beard and then i DO use the just for men.lol its all in how you feel,since i quit all the narcotic pain killers and started back tokin,i feel alot younger.thanks guys for listening.be young and grow

Waaa.......at least you got hair. I've watched my hairline slowly retreat. I had hair down to the middle of my back just a short 15 years ago. Now I don't have much at all. In fact, just last week I said to myself "screw it". Out came the razor. Now I got NO hair!! Talk about a loop?? And I'm only 46!!

the main thing is i dont heal as fast.. i can still do just about anything i could when i was say 18... but if i get cut or brused or scratchd.. takes forever to heal up..

also im with ya on that one.. tha kids now are rediculous.. i mean im no huge guy but kids now dont even try to excercize or workout.. the guys dress in tight pants and look gay.. the hair over the eye thing??? the new music is garbage.. emo indy rock.. god.. im glad im not young enough to like that horable music..

Im 21 but i have taste (i listen to good tunes and my band rocks) now im not going gray but my hair will fall off somtime in the future:eek: .im not part of the emo gen but it means like emotionly disturbed sort of like a goth but younger and more depressed.i dont think i will feel old till i can no longer play the drums, never maybe.

just noticed someone asked what emo is lol

Well when i was a teen I was into rock and metal music and we got called grunge or grebs.

Now they seem to be called emo, although there are differences. The music seems to be very mild like pop/rock crappy stuff catchy you know the sort. they wear black along with bright colours. So sort of taking some gothic and some punk in there. they have this enigma that they all cut themselves for attention - whether this is true I'd rather not comment as I am a self harmer and am certainly not emo and certainly do not do it for attention.

Now personally I hate branding. People tellign you that you are an emo or a towny or chav. I believe you wear what you want, you listen to whatever music you like, and beyond anything, you choose who you want to be. Life is not about folling the herds, becoming a sheep. Its about being who you want to be, not caring what others think and living life as fully as you can!

i feel the same way. to each their own. i'm sure when i was younger i judged folks but now i see the world thru wiser eyes. I always TRY to treat people the way i wanna be treated. im no better than anyone. i may have things others dont as they have things i don't. that doesn't make me better or worse just different. i think everyone should be free to express them self any way they like as long as no one is being hurt by it.

well i fall some where in that 44 age bracket, got electrocuted by 7200 volt when i was 31, died twice that day. 4 years ago got hit by a car while walking, got a plate from my knee to my ankle. grey hair i got it, i think it is a sign of mellowing out...

Don't be hatin' on 'emos' folks...I agree with thorn, everyone expresses themselves in different ways...shouldn't judge imo...But gettinggray, you sound bout like one of my uncles the way you've been beat down and hurt...same age too ...He also died for short time, when one of his drinking buddies pulled a hit and run on 'em...There's plenty more stories, but the they're all stupid shouldn't have done that kinda stories...But for all you banged up folks havin' surgery, please go easy on those painkillers etc...Make sure you know the risks of addiction before taking, i've seen almost everyone of my friends lives go to just pure crap b/c of prescription meds...well i'm done ramblin' on...Reality Check, I've Wrote a Short Story!!! enjoy :)

i blame my son. nevermind the hard living from say 16 to 26.

interesting thread this has become. I'm only 23 and people always said to me 'enjoy school, they will be the best years of your life'. well let me tell you this they must have gone to some purple fluffy cloud school because most of my childhood and all of my teenhood was ruined by bullies. I hated life until I went to college at 16 and found marijuana. Since then its been a rough ride and I'm only now coming to deal with, and be treated for, the mental scars school left me. Don't believe what anyone tells you, find it out for yourself. Your brain needs to figure things out, more than we know!
