hey.
i got a question about pipes, i make woodies and i was wondering if i stained/finished them ( like the paint stuff u buy at hardwear stores. would it mess up the pot or mess up yer lungs.

I never paint my pipes. Stain is OK. Try to get waterbased stains.
For a finish I use a salad bowl oil finish. Kind of like urethane.

It is approved for use with food product.
Stuff the pipe bowl full of tissue or something when staining or painting so you
get nothing in the bowl that may burn.
I use exotic woods, so no stain or paint is used. So i just sand them and oil them with the salad bowl finish.

I did not really answer your question. Do not get any in the bowl or the mouth hole. You will be fine.

sweet, ill try that with my newest pipe. just finished my 4th one in 2 days.
