Noobie questions

Hi this is my first post. You can just call me pig. I had a few noobie questions as im doing some reasurch for my hopeful 2007 summer grow. Thanks for the assistance.

1.I understand LTS but i was wondering if any one had a link to any good guides on the subject as google cant come up with any thing.

2.Some questions about lighting:
Do grow light fluorescents work all the way through flowering well such as the ones shown on this page?

3.If I did go with only 1 HPS or MH lamp which will be better overall?

4.Ballast seem to scare me a little bit. They sound a little technical. Are they easy to find prewired? Am i scared for no reason? This is why I was also drawn to fluorescents.

5.Another thing are all of these things easy to obtain locally? Any one recomend online shopping?

6. Smell, how strong is it while it is growing? I have a closet with a window that is about 14 feet tall and no one walks within 30 feet of this, is this a safe distance?

7.Seeds, I know about the hundreds of seed banks and how they are all recomended by different people. I was wondering if any one could suggest a strand under about 75 USD. I was looking for a few different strands from each sativa and indica. I'm by no means a experienced smoker but from how the highs are described Im mostly smoking indica. I get really wonderful body sensations, cookies and milk are the best things in the world when I am stoned. I also crash and get really tired. I have never experienced the creative intergetic high of sativa. Links would be wonderful. Strand names will great.

I hope to get growing this summer but I though I would be as close to an expert as possible. Unless...does any one know how to grow in a college dorm and get away with it? :)

P.S. I think the grow journals are the most help full as they give visuals to the most common problems and I get to see how they work out. I just wanted to say from a noobie like me thanks for posting journals and keep it !

Its all in tying the top down to have the side branches grow more. There is a guide and many journals that show LST. not something you can do a how to on more of a personal method. when tying be careful not to break the stems is all.

check out member "insane" grow journal he uses the souped up florous all the way through.

HPS IMHO would be the best route if your only buying one. It will see you through a full grow very well. It is more "designed" for flower than an MH. an MH has the right spectrum for veg.

Ballasts do get hot (unless you spend the money for a digital).
After flowering with an HPS I could never go back to florous. The difference is way too pronounced.

Depends on how much your growing. I would say odor control is #1 tho. Whether a homeade carbon scrubber or ionizer. anything to reduce the tell-tale smell would be wise. even "low odor" strains smell during flower.

I'd go with Nirvana seeds. 15 bucks a pack. for easy to grow Northern Lights Pure indica are short and tough...very potent.
try seedboutique or nirvana seeds directly. ;)

not for seeds... shipping goes by cubix... basically the cubic area the package takes up.... then it goes by weight. So basically... if something is big.. or needs to be packed in a weird shaped box... or is really heavy.. u can expect to pay more.
Here is an example.
A ph pen from Western usa to eastern canada airmail... $10 shipping.
A 2.5 liter V6 car engine ground shipping from same place to same place. $400
