Fan leaves/Bud sites

I have some big fan leaves on my Veg. plant right now and i took some dental floss and GENTLY brought the fan leaves in and tied them so they dont block the light on my underlings.(They are not tied to the stalk)Will this hurt the fan leaves or the plant?Cause i know they need them during flowering.Could i keep them tied tied up? Also can any body tell me about bud sites or have a picture of them?

as long as things are not too tight it shouldn't hurt a thing... i tie cotton string around my stalks to the wall to move the taller budding tops to let more light on the others.
