What Exactly?

Hi. I'm not exactly new to smoking weed but I've never had hash and I'm wondering exacly what it is and if it gives the same effects as marijuana?
If not, what does it do -- in terms of effects?
And I've also heard from some of my friends that hash is legal, is that true? Where do I get it?

If hash isn't legal, where do I get a REAL legal substitute for marijuana, and what is it?

Hashish is a cannabinoid, like marijuana. It consists of the THC-rich resinous material of the cannabis plant, which is collected, dried, and then compressed into a variety of forms, such as balls, cakes, or cookie-like sheets.
