situation: grow room is 5x11x8 in a bedroom that is 12x11x8 w/ a 2&1/2x6x8 closet. grow room contains a 600w conversion ballast/bulb and a oscolating fan. also a carbon filter w/vortec motor venting from grow room to bedroom. there is a vent in the grow room pullin air from the bed room in to the grow room through pressure created from the carbon filter. in peak running, the grow room is about 100 deg. f. and the room is about 90. after about 10 hours the whole room is 105. Instalation of a window mounted small room a/c unit in the bedroom (the bedroom would be the'outside' of window and grow room would be the 'inside' of the window..if that makes sence) creates optimal grow conditions in the grow room..77 to 82 deg. f. and 40 to 45% humidity...
issue: Now the bedroom is maintaining a temp of well over 100 deg. f. from the a/c exaust. even when the air from the grow room is venting in to the bedroom at 78 deg. opening the bedroom door cools the room to 90 but heats the whole apartment. Opening a window is a problem due to the light leaking from grow room to bedroom to window....
Any thoughts on how to tame this beast???

Wow, sounds like you got a problem. Well, one thing you could do is put a couple of buckets with water "outside" your window in the bedroom. If you could get enough surface area, enough water would evaporate to adequately cool your room (because when water evaporates, it cools the air). Of course that would raise your humidity, but it would cut your heat problem. You can also get a hood vent, i am not sure if you said you had one of those, but you could run the hood vent to outside your apartment somehow, and that would rid of a good amount of the heat. is your suction fan separate from the hood? In any case, i would try to find a way to get that hot air that is being sucked out outside. There probably isn't any other solution
take the ballest out of the grow area.
but as long as the grow area has a good temp does it matter how hot the other room is?
BUt you could vent the ac with ducting into your ceilling.
Most are just sheet rock with a 4-6in area between the next level.

Thats a thought...venting the a/c..it would be alot of fabrication though..no the room temp doesnt matter other than convenience I guess. If Im gonna loose the whole room to growing than I may as well have 20 plants instead of 3...lol...and I only want 3...johny law say's 3's a legal number....I wonder if the light was vented as suggested by the first person, if ill have a need for a/c...hhhmmmm:confused:

wow. thousands of members on this site over 24 hours and only 2 responses......anybody out there with any other comments??
tatally venting the hood will lower the temps tremendously.
There are only a few answers...more cool air in..or more hot air out.
"build" a custom wood box and seal it around the back of the ac and the use 4-6in ducting going from box to whereever.

Vent your box directly to the outside...
