A Marijuana crop worth up to $5 million was found planted in a large sorghum paddock about one kilometre west of Nobby yesterday.

About 2200 cannabis plants were discovered in what Warwick Police Criminal Investigation Branch Senior Constable Glen Roche described as the largest plantation found in the Nobby region.

The owner of the Mt Kent Boundary Road property - a 43-year-old man - has been charged with production and possession of a dangerous drug, Snr Const Roche told the Daily News.

The marijuana was planted in eight 50-metre plots with a watering system throughout the sorghum field, from which the town of Nobby is clearly visible.

“It is quite a sizeable crop...the area has never had anything like it before,” Snr Const Roche said.

“The offender faces up to 14 years in prison - it was a well set up and large operation.

“The crop has to be analysed by a scientific officer to confirm it is cannabis.”

He said the cannabis was planted from December last year.

It took eight officers, who travelled to the property in five police cars, about four hours to remove all of the marijuana from the sorghum crop, and then another couple of hours to count and analyse the plants.

“We acted on information from the public,” Snr Const Roche said.

At the run-down property there were about five guard dogs - some of them large Rottweilers - pigs roaming around and old farm machinery scattered throughout.

Three rural fire brigade members were called to the property late in the afternoon to oversee the burning of the crop to ensure the blaze did not get out of control.

While this would normally be seen as a massive marijuana bust, Warwick Police District Officer Inspector Greg Morrow said it did not compare with the $500m haul at Inglewood last year.

He said the Nobby seizure was doused with diesel to limit the hallucinogenic effects of the crop.

The man will appear in Warwick Magistrates Court on a date to be fixed.

what?

he was growing diesel?

spreading ignorance, or still trying to make marijuana appear dangerous?

Burning diesel fuel has more carcinogens than burning cannabis.

Idiot's.

for real, diesel fule is full of sulfer an other bad things that when burned are really bad, at lest trucks have muflers an cadlic converts to filter out most of thies things. but burning that crap in the open air, not only that letting it settel in the SOIL was the dumbest move, an shows how stupied people are about MJ. i am higher than hell an, i am not getting any hallucinogenic effects. lol an i smoking some trainwreck. lol
