Plant not doing well after being transferred from soil to hydro

So, first time transferring plants from soil to hydro. Everything is set up the same I also do hydro-wise. DWC with an air stone and RO water. 400w MH on top.

After about 12 hours, it started to look a bit.. crusty. What's going on?

Roots are shocked.
 
Drying out is your problem. What are your temps? How close is your lamp? Are the roots in the water?
 
The plants seem to have stabilized now, I think.

I recalibrated my pH meter and heightened the lights to lower temps.
