Does any one know if it would be ok to throw the cyprus shavings from my friends tortoise tank in my compost pile? The only thing it eats is kale, strawberries, and other greens. Thanks.

cypress woods are everygreens I think and most evergreens arnt good in compost piles. They don't compost as fast as most other plant materials

If they are finely chopped they will just add a little acid to your compost. If they are not fine, they will take long to compost. The ****'s gotta be good. lol

cypress wood is a very bug resistant wood. It is used for telephone poles and railroad ties. It has alot of the same traits as cedar when it comes to keeping bugs away
